I'll explain my title. I have recently came off hiatus as I felt it was time to at least try my luck again in terms of roleplaying but the results were not as i had expected. I only had a couple express interest and we started but it seems at times to slow more often than pick up naturally there is the frustration period and I think I'm currently in that period and I was wondering what do you do in this situation when it seems like no one is interested in your ideas and your approach to this problem.

Naw, but it depends on a lot of factors. Timing, formatting, level of writing... A lot can go wrong.

If you host a fandom RP for example, you'll find more luck hosting an RP of that kind right after a release of some kind relating to that fandom. The flipside is that the players will be more thrifty, and you might have trouble retaining interest. Timing can also have to do with timezones. If I were to host a YGO RP, I might have luck bumping my thread when it's rather late for me, as I know most people interested in YGO on this site tend to be from America.

How your ideas are formatted plays a role in the sense that, when it looks nice, it'll get more eyes drawn to it.

Writing level is all about knowing your audience. If you post 18 paragraphs of loredump in free, or 2 sentences in advanced, it's pretty much setting you up to get no bites.

Now, since your issue is 'players not biting first but they do later' I'm going to assume it's a matter of timing, rather than the other two. In that case, honestly, not much way to deal with it other than to bump every once in a while. Patience is a virtue, and not everyone will get flooded straight away.

Also, in case of a group RP, if you have a friend that helps you co-GM, talking to them and panicking together is a lot more fun than anxiety slowly biting into you alone.

@Ammokkx Well i don't do group RP's so i don't have to worry about someone panicking with me, at this point I feel like I have been bumping it up but in a way the problem still kind of persists and most haven't bit yet still.

Honestly. Formatting and design are one thing, a nice role play with effort put into presentation shows that yiy made a effort and is a plus point..

Also, advertise right! Depends what your RP is. But you have to think how you sell the idea. Launching requires more than just posting it up, gotta stand out as alot of other people want your players. Also same as above. Make a good impression, you have seconds to grab em, so make sure no major spelling errors etc.

We had to put alot of effort in behind the scenes pre launch, not to scare you just remember, if your ready before, you gonna have alot better chance of a successful launch than playing catch up :)

@PrinceAlexus Even though formatting and design are important along with presentation I felt like i did all that along with advertising right as well, i made sure mine had no errors naturally and i put in effort into it but it kinda sucks knowing no matter what you've done it doesn't get acknowledged at all or interest from people.

Sadly that happens, it's abit of a dice roll if your get off the ground or not.

The two I've done worked well, but it also depends on the genre etc. Some are alot harder to get going than other, ie advanced etx.

All I can say is rig the odds as far as you can in your favour, it sucks, but you just got to try and stay posetive.

I appreciate the stay positive message and i have done interest checks before and outside of my first one i did on here i don't seem to be having the same kind of luck that others seem to have. I feel like with the limit of tags i have done for my interest check for that same rigging factor it hasn't worked for interest and even if genre played a crucial role which i know it can it hasn't helped my luck or any long term roleplay staying power despite my best efforts.

@rebornfan320 I know how you feel. Last couple 1x1 interest checks have left me feeling a little like a pariah :p I've got no advice to give you, but you're not the only one. It's worth sticking out for a good partner if you do get lucky, though. Try not to let it get you down too much.

@Mae Thank you for your words, it wasn't advice but also kind of was at the same time. I do feel like i am the only outcast that doesn't get my interest checks and with my luck it hasn't been consistent for me in terms of interest and even if i reply to them they eventually just stop so this is more salt into said wound.
