It's funny that one of my favorite movies, [i]L.A. Confidential[/i], is so faithful to the source material despite the fact that only about ten or fifteen percent of the book actually made it to the screen. It was wildly changed, as you kind of have to do when a five hundred page epic book that takes place over a decade is condensed down to maybe two months, but the spirit of the novel is there.
