Karaulish felt the satisfying sound of flesh being pierced. The spear was now in position, as he would call it. Instead of trying to pull his weapon out, as most rational men, and soldiers, would, he instead moved his right hand further back along the shaft, sliding the left to keep the gap between them a constant. He then pushed hard - not with his utmost power, but hard enough to, most likely, topple the orcish woman if she did not apply significant resistance. His right hand was the main source of force behind the push, as he had drawn it back far enough to place the palm at the butt of the spear handle. What he intended to do was to force the orc back, or, potentially, deepen the wound, and in this process push himself a step back as well, gaining the opportunity to draw his blades.
