Thanks for all the advice. I was also eyeing those two. I think the multi-citizenship of these ship's is pretty interesting. I'm tempted to make two characters now so I can pull off a merge.
Hm, I think I can help with that (though it might be "spoilers").
In the anime/manga, there are two ways you can go with this. The first way is that you can have two mental models for whatever ship you chose. It would take a lot of your ship's computational power to produce two mental models, but there are some ships that have been known to do so e.g. Bismarck and Nagato. The second way is for one ship to sacrifice their hull and "merge" with a ship. In Blue Steel, Takao sacrifices her hull in order to help Iona and Gunzou after a disastrous battle. As a result, Takao manages to restore the submarine, and becomes part of I-401 as seen below. Takao and Iona work in cohesion (after Takao realizes she won't be noticed by her Gunzou-senpai), but Takao is unable to produce a "mental model" from this point on. In regards to your ships, if you go down this route, maybe this could be a reason why they defected?
[@Ammokkx] I don't know if Ithra wants to follow all the lore since this is an alternate universe, but I thought to toss this your way.
