[indent]Ash can be described as an English Rose as she has the pale skin and a rosiness in her cheeks, her eyes are hazel and she has long red hair. Her hair is naturally thick and wavy and she usually wears it in a plait or bun to keep it out of her way. Other than freckles across her nose she doesn't have any other blemishes or marks. She is five foot nine and has a slender build with small hips and bust, she has a fast metabolism allowing her to eat pretty much anything without having to watch her weight. However this does mean she is always struggling to put on weight. 

When not on shift she has a distinct rock chick style with skinny jeans, t shirts and plaid shirts and her trusty black leather jacket. She doesn't really wear much jewellery except a watch and a pendant that holds some of her fathers ashes. She has one tattoo on her left wrist which is a series of words spiralling around her wrist (it looks like several bracelets) the words are a viking prayer about Valhalla.   [/indent]

[indent]Ash has perfected the mask she wears to hide her true feelings and portrays herself as bulletproof. Most people only see the confidence and assurance she allows them to see. She uses sarcasm to deflect conversation or questions she wants to avoid answering as well as ensuring others didn't get too close.[/indent]

[indent]Very few see the true Ash, as she only lets her guard down around a small group of people she trusts completely. An advantage of hiding her feelings has meant that is able to at least appear calm and confident in stressful situations (even if inside she is panicking) Her biggest strength is her sheer grit and determination, no matter how many times she gets knocked down she just gets back up again, she just refuses to give up. Her other main strength is her loyalty and if you manage to gain her trust, which isn't easy, then you will have her in your corner no matter what. 

Her main weakness is her inability to ask others for help, persistently trying to do everything alone, and this leaves her open to failure. Her other weakness is her lack of verbal filter, she is incredibly blunt spoken, and says what she is thinking without any regard for others feelings. She doesn't do this deliberately, it is more that she just can't help it, and this is always landing her in trouble. [/indent]

[indent]Ashlyn Olivia Winters was born in the north of England in a village near the Scottish border to an English father and an American mother. Her childhood was pretty uneventful and other than growing up bored, there was very little to do in the village, she was happy. An only child she had loving parents who made time for her even though both held down full time positions, and ensured she did not lack for anything. Ash had decided early on that she wanted to be a doctor like her father and, through hardwork and determination, she managed to gain the results she needed to go to medical school.

Whilst she was at home for the holidays she and her father were in a serious car accident (their car was hit by a drunk driver in a truck) her father was killed and Ash was seriously injured. Ash was devastated she had always been closest to her father, they were scarily alike.
After recovering Ash continued her medical training in the UK though her mother, whose family still lived in America, had decided to move back to America to be closer to her family. After completing medical school Ash decided that she wanted to be closer to her mother and that she needed a change of scenery (too much reminded her of her father) and so she decided to apply to complete her medical training in the US. She applied as an International Medical Graduate and was accepted to Caduceus Memorial Hospital.[/indent]
