With access to the most exclusive gyms, samples of the best beauty products, and more clothes than she knows what to do with, it’s no wonder why she looks good. Her hair is a cascade of blonde waves, and her eyes are a bright green. Taylor’s skin is always immaculate from her frequent spa trips, and her body is practically flawless. The only perceivable flaw about her appearance is her height. At 5”3, Taylor is just a bit too short. Luckily, mastering the art of walking-sometimes running-in heels helps her disguise her shortness. Of course, Taylor knows she looks great. She’s gotten her fair share of unwanted attention from both men and women alike. Sure, she has the looks, but her confidence is what sells it. Taylor walks around like she owns the place, and always keeps herself looking her best. With the encouragement and guidance of her father, Taylor has become a very skilled artist, covering her room with life-sized drawings of some of her favorite characters. She pores over any comic book she can find, hoping to learn different styles and techniques. However, her heart lies with Marvel, where she hopes to work someday. She strives to exude a perfect, carefree life, but in reality it’s all a facade. Her home life is pretty awful, but she’s “rich” and “spoiled” so who is she to complain? Taylor compensates for it all by looking as good as she does, but she’s not sure how long she can keep it up. She knows it makes her come off as being detached and distant, but it’s for her own good.

D E F I N I N G M Y P A S T

| | H I S T O R Y | |
Taylor is the kind of girl who had it made from birth. Her father Joel Holland is the editor-in-chief for Marvel comics, and with a net worth of well over $30 million, he is able to provide a life of luxury for his daughter. Taylor’s mother, however, isn’t exactly a gold digger; Danish supermodel Henriette Olsen-Holland rakes in at least $10 million every year. From an early age, Taylor’s mother has been obsessed with making her look perfect. Her mother would drag Taylor to every high-end store in Los Angeles to find the right clothes, sample the most expensive makeup, or buy the most expensive hair care products. Even spas weren’t safe, and Taylor became intimately familiar with the most high-end luxury spas in Los Angeles. Her mother would snap at her if her posture wasn't right, if there was a hair out of place, or even if she didn't make eye contact. Growing up with a looks-obsessed mother could have done some damage to Taylor’s mental state if it weren’t for her father. While her mother was busy forcing her into tight clothes and crazy diets, her father kept her grounded by teaching her how to draw. He would take her into his office to show her all of his artwork, telling her about each character’s story and ambitions. With a lot of time and practice, Taylor became a capable artist, using it to cope with her mother’s overbearing presence in her life. Despite Taylor’s resentment of her mother, she has grown to become very much like her in terms of appearances. She enjoys having cute clothes, she works out religiously and keeps herself on a strict diet. Since her mother often buys expensive makeup and skin care items, Taylor has always had an endless supply of high-end beauty products at her disposal. With her mother incessantly picking at her flaws, she works tirelessly to correct and hide them. This has caused Taylor to become just a little too sensitive about her appearance, and she constantly feels the need to keep herself looking the best she possibly can. By eighth grade, she was already wearing heels and tight skirts to school. Once she hit high school, Taylor was getting a lot of attention for her appearance from both boys and girls alike. She noticed plenty of other students ogling her, seemingly without any shame. This made her extremely uncomfortable as a freshman, and only worsened as her body continued to fill out. Eventually she grew to tolerate it somewhat, but any romantic advances toward her just freaked her out. Luckily, most people just kept to staring, and Taylor soon found herself in a close-knit group of female friends called the Candies. Despite several attempts by her friends to set her up with people, Taylor always refused to get into any kind of serious relationship. Still, having a group to belong to made her feel safe. At the start of her junior year, Taylor started looking into art schools to attend after graduation. Her father gave her a piece of key information: he could get her an internship with Marvel Comics while she was in college, but she had to earn it. So, Taylor got a job with a local comic book store to give herself some relevant job experience. The work is tedious sometimes, but as a whole she found that she liked getting to be around comic books all day. She even made friends with some of the regulars, which was an added bonus. Of course, she also got an excuse to not be home with her mother, which was even better. So here she is, with her life neat and planned out. All Taylor needs to do is ride out the rest of her high school career, and it’s smooth sailing from there.
