He'll add in a pair of All Star converse for his shoes. His personal style would be described as put together, casual, and comfortable. He wears suits and all when the occasions call for them, but he finds that they're a bit constricting and make working as an engineer a bit more difficult. He also prefers to wear his glasses over contacts, but when fighting with the team he'll put on the contacts. He doesn't want to be rendered blind by his glasses falling off. He deems anyone who doesn't reach a certain standard of intellect as beneath him, including some of the people working under him in the R&D division of Serval Industries. This largely contributed to his divorce, as his wife did not want to put up with his belittling gaze and knowing that he didn't see her as an equal. This egotism is combined with a short fuse, meaning that whenever Watts has a minor setback, he's liable to start yelling and throwing whatever is near him across the room in anger. These personality flaws make him difficult to work with. On the other hand, Watts is more than just his worst qualities. He is extremely protective over those he cares for, viewing their safety as his responsibility. If someone on the X-Factor team gets hurt, Watts will likely blame himself for not being smart enough to prevent it. Watts is incredibly resourceful as well, able to work with random and disconnected facts and materials, and put them together in a way that others would not realize. He has a bit of a dry sense of humor, but is also constantly cracking references to movies. He can also switch on Dad mode if the situation calls for it and give fantastic advice - and teach you how to change a tire. He had developed a device that would allow him to give himself super speed temporarily. It was enough to get him invited to join the X-Factor and he didn't really hesitate to take the offer. Working for a corporate superhero team meant that he got to enjoy a corporate paycheck, something that will help since he has two kids (Stephen and Leda) to put through college. He won't pretend that the financials weren't a huge part of the decision, but he had decided to become a superhero in order to stop feeling powerless in a world that was becoming dangerous and crazy. The incident in New York City showed him that he needed powers in order to protect his loved ones - just being a scientist wasn't enough. General History: Watts' father was the CFO of a major corporation - and his mother was his mistress. Because of the financial mess, his father more or less paid his mother to keep her silence and agreed to support Watts financially until he graduated from college. His mother eventually got married to a news anchor in Seattle, giving birth to Watts' half-sister Sadie not too long later. The siblings got along for the most part, even though they were eight years apart in age. When he was in high school, it was his job to go swing by the elementary school to pick up Sadie. He attended the University of Washington for undergrad, studying mechanical engineering and chemistry. Graduating at the top of his class, his father's money stopped covering his tuition, so he went onto graduate school. Working as a teaching fellow in the undergraduate classes, he earned his doctorate degrees in mechanical engineering, chemistry, and bioengineering. Some people joked that he was just trying to be a professional student. It was during his graduate school education that he was offered a position with S.H.I.E.L.D., though he turned it down and worked at the Department of Defense. It was there that he met Emily - a biophysicist interested in gamma radiation and its application as a weapon. The two of them fell in love and got married, having two kids - Stephen and Leda. However, around when Leda was four, they had huge issues in their marriage - namely that Emily was convinced Watts looked down on her and didn't see her as an equal, so they got divorced. Emily won custody of their daughter and went back to England, while Stephen stayed with Watts in America. It wasn't too long later that he got an offer from Serval Industries to head up their R&D department, with the salary being enough that he was able to send his son, Stephen, to boarding school. Watts has continued to work at Serval Industries ever since. During his time there, he's developed a lot of novel technology, one of his finer achievements being what he calls the speed serum. It opened the doors for him to join the X-Factor team, as well as see a bump in his pay. With Stephen in college studying forensics, the pay raise was a godsend. Leda is only fourteen and even though she lives in another country, he is determined to pay for her education as well - it's what a father should do.
