However, her relief proved to be short-lived. Before she could hardly react, Lord Laine lifted the Young Army commander off the ground and slammed him back against the wall, apparently having taken personal offense to the smaller man's sharp words. She hopped up from where she had been crouched, her hand instinctively flying to the hilt of her sword. She took a deep, focusing breath, before reluctantly releasing the grip on her sword, realizing that it would likely only further provoke Lord Laine. She hadn't known the man for very long, and yet it had become quickly apparent to her that he had a short fuse. As such, she wasn't about to risk making the situation worse than it already was. She glanced sharply back over at Lady Maehers to see that unfortunately the situation was already escalating before she could even do anything to stop it. She knew that something had to be done, and quickly, but also very carefully. One thing was certain. She would not see her room coated in the crimson of murder. Her eyes were laser focused on Puck and Richard, as she cautiously approached them. However, before she could even begin any sort of negotiations in order to spare Puck's life, a certain conversation transpired that took her totally by surprise. "WHAT?!" she practically spat, her head swinging over to look at Asha. The man, this Gwydion Puck, used children as soldiers?! This was news to her, and the depravity of it all struck a chord deep within her. Her nostrils flared, her blue-green eyes darkening as she returned her attention to Puck and Richard. A part of her, that powerful storm that laid just below her usually serene surface, wanted to just let Richard and Thalia do whatever they wished to Puck, the law be damned. But, in the end, the lawful good side of her that reigned supreme just couldn't let that happen, not on her watch. She took another deep, hopefully calming, breath. "Enough," she commanded, her words seemingly holding much power and authority to them. "Let him go. This can and will be handled by the book. Nothing more, nothing less. You and your family will not be able to leave here peacefully if you kill this man in cold blood. So, let him go now."
