Few in Norden have raven black hair, pale skin, and amber eyes. Race: Heteromorphic - Half-Erinyes Gender: Female Alignment: +150 Bio/Lore: Once a wandering orphan of Singing Tarn, Astrid now has a growing reputation as a spectacularly successful bounty hunter and enforcer. Any time someone breaks an oath or abandons a debt, she hunts them down and collects the reward. When someone declares weregild, a blood debt, they can demand the life of the criminal. Some among the older generation still insist on resolving the problem through honorable duels. In one notable instance, she was appointed as the champion of a town elder, then told to fight and kill a former huscarl and known immortal. She narrowly defeated him through a bit of trickery, but in the end she absorbed all his power. Since then her reputation has been steadily spreading throughout southern Norden. Build Character Level: 31 Racial Class:
Avenger
Job Class:
Rogue Witch Blood Scion
Strengths and Weaknesses: Astrid's spells and abilities make her especially effective at tracking and subduing single targets. She is skilled enough to win nearly any fight one on one. Her magic sword, Angurvadal, is a dire threat in any sword duel. On more than one occasion, she has used it to cleave through her opponent's guard and split their torso in half with one swing. She is agile in combat and dodges if able, but when backed into a corner, she relies heavily on the enhanced defenses her Immortality grants her. Her light armor is high quality, but mundane nevertheless. Skilled archers and mages are difficult opponents for her, but she has more than a few tricks up her sleeve. Between her witchcraft, immortal magic, and potions, she is also well equipped to resist Norden's hostile climate and its blights, both magical and mundane. Equipment: Angurvadal - A magic sword lined with ancient runes which blaze brightly when it spills blood. The blade remains eternally sharp and can cut through iron and stone. Relic of Ithaqua - Although it appears as a gnawed and broken bone from some wild beast, it has been blessed by Ithaqua. Pale ice glimmers dimly between cracks in the weather-bleached ivory. This seemingly innocuous totem, grants immunity to cold temperatures and altitude sickness, as well as buffs the wielder's cold resistance a modest amount. However, the mere sight of the relic enrages any enemy of Ithaqua. Abilities: Child of the Furies - Unlike normal mortals, Astrid doesn't gain sustenance from drinking, eating, or sleeping. Although she does all of these things, she can only survive by spilling the blood of oathbreakers, liars, and murderers. If she fails to do so after a fortnight, she degenerates into a fugue state and aimlessly wanders until she can fulfill her vengeful impulses. Truth Seeker - Astrid is a walking lie detector. She possesses a sixth sense for determining when someone is lying or being deceitful. However, she has to be present to witness the lie, and she can't discern truth from written text. Her ability is especially potent and ignores many countermeasures used to prevent it from working. Oathbinder - Astrid can enforce any verbal or written oath with her magic. If the oath is ever broken, all parties (including Astrid) know who the culprit is and when the incident occurred. The oathbreaker will wither away and die within the next lunar cycle, if he or she does not atone for their crime. On a whim, Astrid can cause a painful scar to appear on the oathbreaker's chest, which acts as a focus Astrid can use to magically track the oathbreaker's location. By concentrating, she can divine the location of an oathbreaker anywhere in the world. Veil of a Thousand Faces - She can change small aspects of her body at will: hair length, eye and skin color, height, etc. As long as her general shape and size remain unchanged, she make any change she likes. She can even grow horns, conjure new tattoos, or make her eyes glow with an eerier light. However, it always wears off at the next sunrise. Wrathful Smite - Astrid can channel divine magic into her weapon and slay outright any opponent of a lower level than her. Those of higher level still receive tremendous amounts of extra damage. However, she can only smite those who have lied to her since the last sunrise or anyone marked by her Oathbinding magic. She can only use Wrathful Smite three times per day. Black Blood - What she presumes is a gift her absent father, Astrid's blood is black and oily. It has no distinctive smell, but faint motes of light pulse within it. The blood itself is highly caustic. It melts through flesh and bone of any kind, live, dead, or undead, with ease. She is immune to the damaging effects of her blood. Black Blood also makes her highly resistant to curses and necromancy. Black blood can be made into a potion which cures diseases, kills internal parasites, and breaks low level curses. However, it also causes minor damage to the creature drinking it. Blood Rain - This spell causes gouts of blood to erupt from Astrid body in a gruesome spray. After a second or two of delay, viscous black ichor will rain from the sky and consume a large area around her. The rain is both cursed and highly acidic. Living creatures caught in the area develop deadly, cancerous growths and weeping sores. The various plants wither and manmade structures begin to crumble.
