Her stupid, fragile heart was screaming at her to give him another chance, to trust that the time spent apart had changed him and that he was willing to fight to for their relationship this time around. All she wanted to do was forget the past and build that future together they had dreamt about out loud about months before. But before her heart had any chance to influence her thoughts, her mind went back to that kiss he’d just had with Beatrice, and the way he’d stuck up for her -so different from the way he’d kept Demi a secret. It reminded her that things could have gone so much further had the brunette not stepped in when she did, and the pain she’d felt watching from the sidelines as he shamelessly showed off Beatrice in ways he’d never done for her. Actions spoke louder than words, so how could he be telling the truth, then? At the mention of Noel, Demi froze, even if she maintained her unbothered exterior. Did everyone know about that now? She sure we hell hoped not. After the rumors had started, they’d been extra careful when meeting up. Somebody must have snitched or something, and Demi had a very good idea as to who had done it and and why. “Me and Noel? What are you talking about?” she lied, pretending to be insulted by the mere mention of anything going on between them. Hopefully this would distract Kalder from pouring salt to the unhealed wounds or from asking questions he wouldn’t like the answer to… Not that she would confess a single thing, of course. Demi would never admit just how far things between her and Noel had gone, or that no matter how good he was, every time she was with him Kalder was always the one in the back of her mind.
