This really isn’t that extreme of a mistake. A simple edit would do just fine. But yes, you do generally want to read everything in the updates that concern your own character to avoid these situations. Even so, everyone will still make said mistakes and miss out on details. Hell, the update before this last one I missed some important details I should’ve addressed as the GM, so it happens. We just hashed it out OOC in the Discord chat and all was well. 

If you have other reasons for wanting to drop, then alright, your decision and whatnot, but if it’s just this, that’s pretty disproportionate a reaction and I’d greatly prefer you stick around.
