His growth was stunted and delayed due to poor living conditions, leaving him standing at 1m57 with a lite physique. His silver hair has two large, black-furred fox-ears with white fuzz sticking out of them. The Erune's amber eyes have black marks underneath them that compliment his punk fashion, but he used to wear more warm and fuzzy clothes during his time on Auricus. It is a fairly sizeable island, but with only six large cities scattered across it. The walls of these refuges of society are covered in the permanent frost of the land, but the inside of any given city is relatively ice-free. Each city has a circuit running through it that takes whatever Fire ether is in the air and converts it into passive heat which courses through the city. This heat is able to keep the city just a few degrees above freezing point, but doesn't make living on Auricus any more comfortable. This constant use of fire ether makes any other use of it within the city walls much weaker, however. Due to the small amount of cities the island possesses, the few cities they do have are large in size and house a great population each. This doesn't make Auricus a prosperous place, however. Poverty runs through almost every street as the island can barely sustain itself. Due to the lack of natural resources, Auricus mainly thrives off the hunt of local wildlife, capturing or killing them as rare goods to be sold at a high price. Said wildlife is not of the passive variety, however. The many creatures of Auricus are often large in size, with thick white-and-blue fur that blends in easily with the environment. Due to the harsh environment, these creatures are overly hostile to anything they come across, including the herbivores as they fight over the few types of floral life they can find. While dangerous, some these creatures have incredibly sturdy hides, others are sought after to keep locked up in cages to admire from a safe distance and another kind are a delicacy even on some far-reaching islands. The harsh circumstances they've evolved in made them desirable, and a commodity only found on Auricus. However, due to this being the main source of income for the cities and the people living in them, hunting has gotten much harder. Mass poaching has led to the animals being driven further and further back into the lands, making each trek more dangerous than the last. In the furthest corners of Auricus, the Water ether in the air glows magnificently. They're areas where almost no creature dares tread, with no plant life in sight, extreme temperatures and ice as far as the eye can see. Hunters skilled with water ether sometimes come out to these area to train their skills, due to the abundance of it in the air, but can never stay for long as the extreme conditions wear even the toughest person out in only a few days. Gimmicks Cyll has two things going for him: An adrenaline rush, and Ice shenanigans. These two things compliment his fighting style, which is running around like a madman and punching people in the face. His adrenaline rush is a controllable surge of bloodflow he can initiate at will, or at least whenever he feels threatened. Growing up on Auricus is dangerous, and dying of cold is a frightening frequency. Sometimes, in order to drag yourself off the street and somewhere warm, you need that extra burst of resilience as your energy runs low from not having eaten enough that day. After having one too many close shaves, you get used to these things like Cyll has, but the Erune took it a step further and learned to control this surge of energy. He trained this to be able to keep his nerve in dangerous situations, and only call upon this type of last resort when absolutely necessary. Cyll can't call it up whenever though, he needs to feel somewhat threatened or be riled up before he can initiate a surge. It's also on a timer, but while this timer runs down, the world goes only half as fast for him as he has more time to think, as well as being a general boost to his agility and strength. Whenever one of his adrenaline highs end though, he's left exhausted. This exhaustion grows larger the longer a surge lasted, and can lead him to paralyze himself in exhaustion for several minutes if he went too far. The other gimmick, his ice manipulation, takes the form of being able to take the water ether in the air and cool it to an extreme degree. Since Cyll is so used to the cold, he knows exactly how hard he needs to freeze something before it can dish out some nasty frostbite upon hitting someone in the face with it. The more water either in the air, the more ice he can coat his fists with, and even launch ice punches a short distance like projectiles. When not used to augment his fists, he can freeze the air a short distance away from him. This isn't enough to make a sturdy barrier without an abundance of ice energy, and is mostly used as a diversion to throw someone off. Personality Cyll is a hothead, despite his place of origin. He's foulmouthed, reckless and quick to lash out at someone if they really get on his nerves. He's not a bad person, just an incredibly volatile one. He also thinks he's the coolest guy on the block, arrogant to a fault. He'll take on challenges that are out of his league unless someone stops him, because Cyll thinks he can take on the world. Despite all that, Cyll knows what it's like to be an outcast. He's bad at being honest with his feelings, but has a lot of empathy for those that feel alone in the world. He doesn't want anyone to feel as hopeless as the people of his home have. Background Auricus is a cruel island to be born on. Born in the city of Fellcross, the earliest memories Cyll has is that of growing up in a crappy, nearly run-down orphanage. Adoption is rare on Auricus, most orphans have to make a name for themselves in the world once old enough, kicked out once they come of age. The retired copper-scaled Dhirom hunter that ran it was strict with the children and not very approachable, however he would tell a story of his hunts once in a blue moon. He did this to teach the children virtues like patience, and also to implant the idea that you had to be strong to survive on the island. No child would think you didn't have to be strong, however. The hunter attempted his best to provide for the children, but meals were scarce. Food isn't easy to get a hold of on Auricus if you don't hunt it yourself, and the Dhirom was much too worn out to face the treacherous lands in search of meat. He had to make due on his meager retirement, leading the hungry children like Cyll to go out and steal to survive. Cyll was especially notorious in regard, and whenever caught by his caretaker, was severely punished from it. The erune was a problem child anyway, constantly going against orders and breaking rules left-and-right. One day, around when he was only eleven, Cyll snuck out in a hunter's convoy. He wanted to witness a hunt himself; see what it was like outside the old Dhirom's stories. Once the hunters set up for a camp, Cyll snuck out from the cloth and wanted to explore the area a little. He wandered into an icey cave, abandoned. The ice had curled around and smoothed itself out, and even the icicles from the ceiling were coloured a brilliant blow. Cyll was enraptured by the sight and wandered further in, each step getting him closer to a faint trail of light in the air. The cave seemed to go on endlessly, and the permafrost of the area gave birth to visible water ether in the air. It resonated with Cyll, it felt right to be there. Because he was so young, he was completely lost in the feeling. Then, he passed out. The next thing he knew, Cyll was back in the orphanage. A hunter that had been training his ether in the cave had found the boy passed out and brought him back to the city. His caretaker was not happy with this stunt, and Cyll was watched over like a hawk for several weeks because of it. Once he got a little older, Cyll recalled the event. While it was scary to think he could've died, he also recalled the sensation of the water ether all around him. This feeling of bliss made him realise he could do so much more with it. So, Cyll frequently snuck out the city from that point on. He purposefully went out in the snowy wasteland to train himself. He was going to get his affinity under control; if he could fight, he could survive. It started with brawling against nothing but the air in front of him, then he began to spar with some of his fellow orphans and got into fights around the street. Cyll kept pushing his body more and more until he finally managed to freeze the air in front of him for the first time. He kept honing this technique from that point on, thinking he could put it to great use when he became a hunter. When a boy becomes old enough to fend for himself, he's taken out for a test ride with experienced hunters to get a taste of what it's like. Cyll witnessed the cruelty of how the hunters went about capturing the creatures they came across and wondered if he really wanted to be a hunter. The animals looked about as helpless as he had, a weak individual preyed on by their environment. Cyll made up his mind when he saw this; things couldn't go on like that. He'd heard stories of Estulacia, a promised land of some renown. Cyll, being a reckless and naïve kid still, wondered if it was better to chase this instead. Maybe if he could find Estulacia, he could make the situation in Auricus a little more bearable for everyone somehow... So, that's how Cyll managed to sneak on an airship and became a stowaway in order to go on an adventure. Inventory Cyll travels super light, all things considered. With how he fights using only his fists and doesn't even bother putting on proper armor, the most he keeps on him is a pouch for money. Considering he's basically a runaway and poor as dirt, though, it's unlikely he could afford anything else anyway.
