Kathrine Vale Deserts had always fascinated Kat, life had to, of course, adapt to their surroundings, but the demands of a desert were so different from other biomes, and she had no small amount of respect for desert flora and fauna. Here was no different, the ground occasionally broken up by short scrubby bushes and the occasional alien cacti equivalent. What was strange, however, was the lack of animal life. Even a desert like this should have some small creatures, especially with a potential scavenging supply like the base being so close by. Kat furrowed her brow and took a look at the base in the distance. Unpowered perimeter fences, disabled and even destroyed gun emplacements, and some kind of graffiti, referential maybe? Certainly, nothing she'd ever heard of. Her helmet snapped a picture of the words, on the off-chance that they were important later. She froze upon Zen speaking and turned her head slowly to follow his gaze. when he raised an arm, her eyes widened, and she started, "Wait, don't-" but was cut off by the robot blasting the outcropping and the subsequent appearance of the Serris. Don't ask the woman who encounters dangerous animals in the wild anything, no, that would be the sensible thing to do. To be perfectly honest, Kat would love nothing more than to listen to the robot's suggestion to leave, however.... the idea of leaving him behind to face off against these Serris alone was... well she didn't like that thought at all. She wasn't really comfortable around the robot, but she could hardly be angry at him for what he was programmed for. So instead, she moved to Zen's left, and readied her Micro-Missile Launcher. She'd never encountered a Serris herself, but she'd read up on the creatures from documentaries of others. "No offense buddy, but I don't think you can hold them all off by yourself! How familiar are you with these things?"
