During formal events and times when she absolutely must be presentable, then her hair is pulled back into tight intricate braids. Her eyes will change color with the shifting of the moon's phase, slowly shifting from blue to green to blue again, spending a great amount of time in an amorphous gray color. She is fit and healthy, as one might assume, though with all the corestry it is sometimes hard to tell who actually is as thin as they present themselves. She stands tall for a woman, standing equal to most men, even when not in heals. She prefers darker colors of clothing, having a fascination in filigree, so she is often found wearing heavy dark brocades, suits cut in an almost military style when socially acceptable. It is not uncommon to find her with goggles and leather gloves, flawlessly embroidered, of course.
Madam Geraldine's, naturally
n/a
Being of the craftsmen's stock, she is a top notch metal bender. What sets her apart, however, is her metallurgical knowledge. She works in alloys most have never dreamed of, pushing the limits of what is possible in today's sciences. Her designs are more steam powered and less clockwork, preferring the lighter weight to the generally heavy and bulky clockwork designs. She is also extremely quick in her art, perhaps it is her unabashed stubbornness in her personality that allows it, or her actual knowledge of metal types and characteristics, but she can bend larger pieces of metal faster than most, allowing for a very fervent improviser in combat situations. She does have another knack, she has megnetic draw. As long as she has skin contact with piece of ferrous metal (iron based), she can amplify its magnetic field and push/pull other ferrous metals, this is nothing overly incredible, but it'll draw a wrench that is just out of reach to her.
Mr and Mrs Lockheart own Lockheart Engineering and Design Firm where they research, design, and manufacture unique machines and tools.
Her reputation proceeds her in many ways. She learned how to bend metal, the manual way, with heat and hammer, before she ever learned how to use her gifts. She grew up as one of three, and the only girl amongst them. Later, when she was old enough, she was sent to the best school for girls available, Madam Geraldine's. It was here that she met her future husband, Chester Lockheart. They met at a social etiquette and information gathering exercise held betwixt the two schools, they tell the story of it being love at first sight, but it was anything but... or perhaps it was everything but? There was passion and attraction, in ways that neither knew possible before that night. Nonono, you mustn't blush, they both retained their purities that night. After graduation they partnered up in an engineering and design firm, with her skill in the metallurgical arts and his famed mind for design, they pushed the limits of conventional materials for steam vessels and ventured into new, unknown alloys, their combined craft pushing at the edges of what is and was possible. It is almost as if he can talk to machines that don't exist yet, having in-depth understanding of how a mechanism will work simply by looking at it, or thinking about how it should work based on the input and output of it. Despite this, he started out as a poor boy from a poor family. His parents died, tragically, of a soot sickness that affects the lungs of many of the poorest. They were relatively unremarkable people, which makes Chester's Scholarly pursuits extremely curious, and his partnership with a member of the famed Bird family even more curious. However, for those that know him, they know that he is every bit deserving of being her partner, of being her equal. And if marrages are for love, as the romantics think, that their marriage is perfect. If it is for utility, as the socialites think than their union is still perfect, because they each provide something that the other is lacking, creating a perfect whole unit. Dark brown eyes that leave you curious about what is hidden behind them, but no special detail about them reminds you of them when you see something else at a later date. Perhaps if he had ever gone to school to train and develop the skill further he would have been able to use it to its fullest potential, alas that is not the case. Instead he has learned how to use it in a few specific ways: - Don't look at me - Don't listen to me - Don't smell me - Don't notice me at all Me can be changed to Us and a small area around himself suitable for maybe 2 additional people if they stand really closely together will be blocked from perception. A general broadcast will catch more people, but is easier to shake off. A focused broadcast will be harder to break through, but really only affects one or two people. Other people with scholarly abilities are simultaneously resistant and susceptible to the effects of the suggestion. If their gift is in active use, their mind is open and easier to push the suggestion to, but if they are not actively using their gift than their mind is closed and harder to push. The same is true for Mr Brown. If he is using his gift and a mind reader reaches into his mind they will get much deeper than they typically would be able to achieve. Automatons are not effected by his suggestions at all.
Occupation โ€•โ€•โ€•โ€•โ€•โ€•โ€•โ€•โ€•โ€•
Mr Brown makes it day to day by peddling in secretes. More likely to notice something missing than someone standing there in the corner waiting.
Personality โ€•โ€•โ€•โ€•โ€•โ€•โ€•โ€•โ€•โ€•
Dameon is crass and blunt and sarcastic, nowhere near a ladies man, and nowhere near a gentleman. What the honorable captain wanted with him is anybody's guess and why he decided to take the invitation and go in his place.
The person before you is not the real Mr. Brown, but nobody in the room really knows that for sure. At least, not yet... he hopes. The person masquerading as Mr Brown is actually David Wheaton. Born as a poor orphan he too soon learned the hardships of life, and too soon found a use for his gift. Dropping out of the provisional schooling that Hourglass city offers to those of his status, he enrolled in the school of hard knocks and earned a degree in Street Smarts, putting his gift to good use making a name for himself by not making a name for himself. He has a friend from the Orphanage, John Laird, who acts as his Agent and fencer/delivery boy, but if he ever talks about him, he'll almost always be referred to as Jay.
