I am downright T E R R I B L E at fighting games. The only one I can think of off the top off my head that I'm even halfway decent at is Smash Bros., and even that is a bit of a stretch. Despite this, however, a good number of characters that I either like or find very attractive come from fighting games(Hsien-Ko from Darkstalkers, Dizzy from Guilty Gear, Mai Shiranui from Fatal Fury, Iroha from Samurai Shodown, and Ivy from SoulCalibur, just to name a few).
