Personality: "The ends justify the means." The classic motto of the Blackwell family, originating in the late 1500s when Walter Blackwell burned his own wife at the stake to throw suspicion off himself during the witch hunts. Each head of the Blackwell's has adhered to this motto strictly, with Ava being no different. She is a remorseless woman who is willing to do anything to achieve her goals, her greatest aspiration being achieving complete and total immortality. 

Outside of her duties as the head of her family, she is quite the amicable person however. Polite in conversation, only minimally condescending to those she considers below her, even progressive enough to keep up with the modern world of civilian entertainment. Although she is a bit behind when it comes to the latest trends, but she tries nonetheless. Some would call her stiff, although she just likes to think of herself as holding herself to a higher standard then others when it comes to politeness.

As an aside, she isn't very good at smiling. She can feel happy, but her smile just looks incredibly awkward.

Brief Backstory: The Blackmore family was first borne around the late 1400s when Arnold Blackmore married a witch. Yes, the stereotypical kind of witch, bubbling cauldron and all. But she also studied Witchcraft, teaching her craft to her new love. She chose to abandon her last name and take on the name of Blackmore, which is where our story begins.

Fast forward about 400 years later, the year is 1929. Ava Blackwell has been born and is introduced to the world of Magecraft. Ten year later she receives the family crest and continues along the usual path of Magecraft. The family goal has always been to reach the Swirl of the Root of course, no matter how many generations it may take. But Ava's thinking differs on the matter. What is the point? If she can't reach it herself, why even bother? To live vicariously through your offspring is pathetic, you must be the one to achieve your goals if the achievement is to mean anything. As it stands, she is just the inheritor of a dream that was not even hers to begin with. So unbeknownst to any in her family, she abandons the family goal and begins work on something new. Ava wanted to achieve true immortality via Alchemy and Witchcraft. 

Fast forward almost a century later, the year is 2004. Ava has stopped by the Clock Tower after a journey to China to study their newest medicine. She feels as though she is reaching the end of the road, she must take more drastic measures if she is to advance her Magecraft further. In the middle of her musings, three Command Seals appear on her hand. Tokiomi Tohsaka was lucky enough to get his hands on her first, explaining the complexities of this ritual. Of course she had the option to say no, but something about this Holy Grail War had caught her attention. A chance for one free wish. The words of her ancestors rung in her ears as she considered what she was agreeing to. Her chance at achieving true immortality. All that was needed of her was to slaughter her way to the top, winning the Holy Grail.

Skills: While Ava is a Magus first and foremost, she has also studied the human body extensively during her studies of Alchemy. On top of this she has kept up to date with modern medicine, to try and gain an edge over the archaic Mages that infest Magus society today. If she had gone to a normal medical school, she would likely be one of the best doctors of her time, having studied medicine from all over the world in her travels. She is well versed in surgery as well, having studied in the Netherlands for a few years during the 70s.

Abilities: Ava is a master of Witchcraft and Alchemy, having several centuries of knowledge on the subjects stored in her Crest on top of what else she has learned in her 70+ years of life. She of course knows all the basics of Magecraft, however she has recently taken to training in it's more practical uses, such as Reinforcement of the body and High Speed Incantations. Her greatest tool in battle is preparation, creating powerful potions and poisons ahead of time to kill her opponent with as little effort and resources expended as possible. However not everyone gets that kind of time, so she has boiled Alchemy down to the barest science she possibly can with what she's dubbed as "The Black Forest Alchemy Kit". A variety of potion ingredients stored in her pack, able to create simple yet effective potions within even 10 seconds. All she needs is the time to add a dash of a few ingredients into pre-prepared bottles of ether infused water to create, an instant smokescreen, a minor paralytic poison, a small explosion, and other such things of that nature.
