Background:  An average student, despite his father’s meteoric career in genetics. Bruce was raised by his single father, who at the very least tries to be involved and understanding. 
Bruce’s main claim to any kind of glory or public recognition was as a runningback on his high school football team.  To his chagrin, back home he's particularly famous for the severe injury of another player in his senior year. 

After acquiring his powers thanks(he later learned) to a lapse in lab safety at his father's work, he first tried to use them to secure an athletic scholarship. He didn't have much hope of getting into a good school otherwise. When his incredible speed and strength put a student from another school in the hospital, he swore off contact sports, switched to track and field, and donned a super hero costume, in an honest effort to attone for what he had done. 

He got his scholarship, though not for the sport he originally intended, and moved to a student apartment in the city. 

He’s a dedicated kind of person, who puts himself into what’s important to him, even if that’s not always what others would want for him.

Bruce is a mechanical engineering major, and while he doesn't have the chemical know-how to replicate Spider-Man's web fluid, he has made some other special variations on the classic costume. His mask is hard polymer, more like a helmet, and has extra lenses with fiber optics to feed into his peripheral vision, making use of his enhanced senses to increase his field of vision. It also has an audio relay to increase or alter incoming sound.
