I fight creatures that want to eat me, with my fists." Birth Name: K'arskh Tia Nickname: Kash (Pronunciation of name by non-Miqo'te races & Common choice of self introduction. For simplicity this name is what will feature further within this character sheet) Title(s): N/A Race: Miqo'te Clan: Seeker of the Sun (Hipparion, Roving) Age: 23 Birthplace: Born within the Sagolii Desert within the Hipparion Eorzean clan grounds. Born on the 2nd Sun of the First Umbral Moon. Occupation: Devout Pugilist, Kash resides within the Pugilist Guild within Ul'dah away from the busy market streets within the Steps of Thal. Contributes the Guilds food stores through fishing, a hobby he'd taken up to help hone his patience. Class: Pugilist Gender: Male Deity: Azeyma Sexual Orientation: Straight Appearance: Kash stands at the tall (for a Miqo'te at least) height of 5'3". He has 4 triangular shaped stripe markings on his cheeks, two on each side in an almost symmetrical pattern. He claims to have purple eyes although his left eye has a discoloration appearing more as a dark blue color. a shallow scar overlaps the top most stripe on his left cheek, luckily the only mark left on him from the active hunting lifestyle the Hipparion tribe leads. Personality: Over the years Kash's personality has experienced some changes which leads to a certain degree of unpredictability. In more recent years Kash has learned to act more calmly and patient when dealing with difficult situations. However this temporary facade represents an individual with a short-fuse who acts more brash the longer a confrontational conversation ensues. Kash is otherwise friendly in conversation, but his realistic point of view on occasion can be viewed as pessimistic. He has developed a heightened respect for authority and superiors from his time as a city dweller and from that feels freely to speak his mind when asked his opinion on matters concerning himself or the guild. Biography: Kash's upbringing was one that could be considered typical for a offspring of a Seeker of Sun tribe member. Most of his adolescents was spent learning how to be of value to the tribe including lessons on hunting. However for Kash, like other Miqo'te before him, did not possess the natural knack or aptitude for wielding a bow. This made it increasingly difficult to and dangerous for Kash to participate in hunts, often resulting himself defending himself in hand to hand combat, even resorting to using the bow as a means of grappling rather than its intended purpose. For all intents and purpose, by the time Kash was 16, old enough to participate in the coming of age trials it was clear to the elders and himself that he would likely fail his trial. However he decided to participate in the trial. Kash was the last to return from the trials to his camp, he returned without a kill and an empty quiver. He had failed, failed his clan and himself. Although no Miqo'te was exiled from their clan for failing their trial, one year on Kash made the decision to leave his clan. Unlike most that would make this decision he was not doing this out of desire to create his own clan, asking none to join him he left with naught but what little gil he had and the clothing on his back. His aim was to head for Horizon and purchase passage to Limsa Lominsa. He had remembered stories from other clan members, other Miqo'te clans had now called the town their home and were living among the other races there. The major flaw to Kash's plan was his lack of knowledge in the local geography beyond the bounds of Southern Thanalan, despite this he did not wish to stay his kind in the desert as a failure and so departed regardless. The trek was tiring and the blistering heat of the Thanalan region slowly took its toll on the young Miqo'te forcing him to a stop by the time he'd reached Ul'dah. A city, a discomforting prospect for someone who grew up in a camp knowing everyone that lived within their dwindling numbers. But he had no choice, his decision had been made and best he got used to being around others before he reached Limsa Lominsa. 'The Quicksand' supposedly the place for one to go to rest their head and rid themselves of their woes. Though its name's more traditional meaning had Kash confused until he stepped through its doors. The atmosphere felt similar to that of the camp at night, though instead of hunters, those gathered there evidently came from a multitude of professions. The young miqo'te would proceed to drink, his chance of passage to Limsa dwindling with each tankard he'd buy. Perhaps he regretted leaving the camp, perhaps he was angry at himself for not being able to learn to use the hunters tool. The reason would prove to be of little import however, for an easily avoided scenario would shortly change his path completely. The night went on and Kash's sobriety faded from existence. With each drink, a new name dubbed upon him by his server, adding to his annoyance. What would follow would be the final straw the young, drunk Miqo'te could handle as a single drunkard parted from his group to request Kash join them. The mans hand grabbed hold of Kash's shoulder who returned to him a glare of anger. An unwelcome contact established between them, though before the drunk would receive explanation, or a chance a withdraw his invite, Kash would react. The reaction in the form most Miqo'te would use to settle their differences, though in this case it was to deal with an annoyance. The first punched was thrown by the Miqo'te, as would be the last even after two of the drunkard Hyur's friends had joined the scuffle. The situation may have escalated further, had the Brass Blades not restrained Kash from fighting any further. Though he initially struggled, he was soon overpowered by their number as the forced the Miqo'te into cuffs. They would 'return him to where he came from' as they dragged him from the establishment. Without further word the Brass Blades 'escorted' Kash to the Pugilist Guild in shackles. Kash's state was so far gone that even if he had known the Guilds location he would not of ended up there without the Blades pulling him along. Were Kash capable of comprehending the situation he may have been surprised when the Guild Master took him in following the Blades detail of the bar brawl, reprimanding the Guild Master for not having 'better tabs' on their pupils. The Guild Master saw best not to kick Kash out in his current state and provided a bed for the night to the wanderer Miqo'te. The following day Kash was offered an ultimatum from the Guild Master. Challenge on of the Guilds students, of the Guild Masters choosing to see if he had potential as a Pugilist, or be handed back to the Brass Blades having been 'dispelled' from the Guild to face justice at the Blades discretion. Finding the choice obvious Kash had chosen the former of the two options and was surprised when the student chosen approached barehanded. However once the student had taken up a fighting stance, it was clear that this would be a bout of hand-to-hand combat. Kash engaged his opponent but was unable to land a blow as his opponent weaved with ease between Kash's untrained attacks, but didn't attempt to strike back. As the fight went on Kash's anger grew and his attacks became more predictable. The supposed fight was appearing more one sided as it continued and on the signal from the Guild Master the student began to strike back. Not able to predict what would happen Kash made but futile attempts to deflect the blows was swiftly bested. He had failed again, adding only further to his embarrassing inability. Though for some reason the Guild Master applauded the display, perhaps he was simply proud of his students, but it came as a surprise when the Guild Master approached Kash offering a place at the Guild as his pupil. Six months into training, that was all that had been completed when the Immortal Flames came to the Guild requesting assistance for the battle about to begin in Carteneau. The urgency and importance was not lost on Kash, but he as one of the least experienced Pugilist would not be participating. After all, his training up to this point had mainly been mastering the many forms and stances the Pugilist would adapt based on the combat situation, he was not ready. Many of the Guilds students departed that day to help in the battle that day. In the weeks following the event called 'The Calamity' it had become clear to him, that none of them would return. There was little time to mourn, the Guild had suffered a crippling blow in both numbers and experience. Kash's training would intensify, the Guild Master focusing on getting the lesser experienced pupils such as Kash up to speed. The teaching of techniques and how best to use them together to string together a destructive flurry of attacks, his natural flexibility as a Miqo'te aiding him in the learning of some of the more complex techniques. Though his training went well the explosive nature residing in Kash was still proving an issue whilst sparring, the longer the session ensued, the more Kash's ability slipped leading to defeat at the hands of Pugilists less skilled then himself. The Guild Master saw fit to request and demonstrate a hobby, something to help calm the Miqo'te's nerves and teach him a lesson in patience. A handful of Pupils were then taken a days training, outside the walls of Ul'dah within The Silver Bazaar. The pupils in question shared similar characteristics of impatience in combat, and so were going to be given a lesson in patience, fishing. Though not all of the pupils decided to take up the hobby, Kash was one of the few that did. The concentration and patience required, waiting for that key moment to strike. The hobby in its own right was training, though the Guild Master would never reveal their hope that this would happen for their pupils. The years following saw a sense of normality come to Kash's life. His arrogant nature as a Miqo'te toward other races, dwindling from his time spent with them within the walls of Ul'dah and his time at the guild. The adoption of his spoken name of 'Kash' to provide easier pronunciation to those around him and to offer himself a type of independence from his tribe. It seemed almost uneventful, the chaos in the years leading up to The Calamity within his life, and now a near blissful ignorance to the issues of the world. Kash would eventually be roped in, along with other pupils into the concerns of the Immortal Flames. Since the casualties experienced during the Battle of Carteneau, the Flames would repeatedly visit the Guilds to aid in their stalemate conflict with the Amalj'aa. Though none of this assistance added up to anything more than a thank you, Kash was always a sought after ally for any expedition to Southern Thanalan. Pupils would come and leave the Pugilist Guild either to pursue other aspirations or in search of 'more'. Kash would remain, devoted to the Pugilist Guild have given him a new way of life. He grew to enjoy city living even though he still couldn't handle the hustle and bustle of the markets within the Steps of Nald. The celebration to mark five years since the events of 'The Calamity' and the survival of the realm was fast now approaching, and the Pugilist Guild would have to do their part to help prepare the city... Other Information: Despite his initial introduction, Kash has become a valued member of the Pugilist Guild through his years of training. His voice in regards to their actions carries some weight within the guild and even with matters concerning co-operation with the Immortal Flames. Despite it being 5 years since the incident the Brass Blades still keep close tabs on Kash's actions within the city. Although initially barred indefinitely from The Quicksand, the proprietor has become more lenient towards Kash. He is allowed within The Quicksand so long as he's accompanied by other members of the Pugilist Guild or visiting with regard to Guild business.
