Alright, got a fellow sorted out for consideration. Whether using formal, proper explosives, improvising his own, or even (much to his usual disappointment) disarming them, its unlikely for Weiland to be caught unawares by any sort of ordinance. - Close Quarters Combat - Despite his wishes, Weiland has to acknowledge that once someone is close enough, employing a thermal detonator or any sort of explosive could prove hazardous to more than the target. Fittingly, he has learned to defend himself up close and personal. While he doesn't follow a single discipline for fighting in a melee, he employs tricks and techniques he has picked up wandering as a mercenary, and fights dirty without a second thought. Minor Skills: - Body Language and Non Verbal Communication - Despite his explosive preferences, Weiland is a Lorrdian through and through, meaning he has a natural talent for non verbal communication, and giving away absolutely nothing that he does not intend to give away. This also extends to reading the body language of others, as even the slightest shift of balance and posture could indicate trouble, or a complete lack thereof. - Marksmanship - Not his forte, by any stretch, Weiland is still a reliable shot, just not a great one. If he can't blow it up, or punch it out, odds are he can at least give them something to think about as he puts blaster shots down range towards whatever is needing to be shot. Given that some folks do not take kindly to the explosive route, he often has to fall back on this when he is part of a team that does not want high amounts of collateral damage. Character Flaws: - One Track Mind - He has a nasty habit of focusing on a problem or task, to the point of missing other, possibly easier, means of accomplishing a task or a goal. He is still aware of his surroundings, mind you, but his focus on a task or problem can rob him of a larger picture view at times. - Passionate - Much like others of his kind, Weiland despises slavery, slavers, and the like. So much so that not only has he refused contracts from known slavers, he has gone out of his way to hinder, harass, or outright murder them. Considering these activities were oft in the Outer Rim, and in places where the only law is the law that someone holds themselves to, it was not such a problem. Operating in more civilized space? Keeping him from gunning down a slaver, even one doing legal business, will be a concern. - Distrustful - Weiland might be chatty and polite when he wants to be, but that doesn't mean he is trusting the person in the slightest. His distrust of unknowns and casual acquaintances is at a level that one might consider paranoid instead of being merely diligent. He tends to plan around others failing their tasks, or outright betraying them, and it takes a great deal of work to actually get into his good books. More like good pamphlets, really, considering how few are trusted on a routine basis. - Flippant - While some may view this as a lack of respect towards authority, in all reality, Weiland just has a general disregard for solemn or serious situations. Which often translates into a disregard towards authority, given the fact he tends to remark in a mocking or non serious manner. Also described as a devil may care attitude, though he does certainly care about some things. Just, most of the time, not the situation at hand. Equipment + FC-1 Flechette Launcher + S-5 Heavy Blaster Pistol (Modified to allow use as an Ascension Gun, grappling and ascending, or descending, from a given location) + Padded Blaster Resistant Breast Plate (Worn under normal attire) + All Weather Cloak + A hardened backpack loaded with his explosives. These include Thermal Detonators, Fragmentation grenades, a few Ion Grenades, two smoke grenades, and a pair of explosive charges at the bottom of the backpack for demolitions work. Anything beyond this default kit, he would have to prepare ahead of time. Brief Background: Weiland is the son of security forces on Lorrd, though whether or not he is still in contact with his family or not is up for debate. He received training and instruction from a young age in how to defend himself and utilize various weapons, though he was noted for being fascinated by explosives. Once he was old enough, he stowed away on a starship bound for the Outer Rim, and began doing mercenary work for most whoever could pay him well. The only jobs he didn't take were those working for slavers, though he had no qualms going after them, for any reason. He made a name for himself, being the type of mercenary you called in whenever you didn't want to leave anything standing. He didn't do the 'take them alive' type of jobs very often, finding his skills were not well suited to such tasks. While his reputation is strictly in the Outer Rim, he has been looking at expanding his working area, mostly since he has grown rather bored of the Outer Rim at this point.
