Being the captain of the football team, and the local pastor's son, a lot of eyes are on him. Mostly, the eyes of his peers, and his teammates. Being quite religious, though, he feels like he holds himself to a certain standard. As a result, he doesn't like his teammates or any of his other friends being assholes. Tanner is actually very sweet and caring, though because of some of the ruder jocks he hangs around, almost nobody thinks he is. He doesn't bother with fighting the rumors either, because he feels like there's better things he could be doing. Like keeping up with his grades, or practicing football. Tanner will speak up when his friends are being assholes, especially if things get physical. Surprisingly, even though he's captain of the football team, he blends into the background among his fellow teammates. He's more on the quiet side, though he has a funny and witty side. He can be a very playful and charming individual, the one reason he's such a good captain. He's able to connect with people, and it helps that he's good with words and at communication. Though, that charisma tends to go away when faced with somebody he actually likes. He finds it hard to speak properly, and may have a red face when around a person he's crushing on. Which is why he has to avoid any crushes at all costs. He's also very driven and determined. Once he puts his mind to something, he won't quit until it's done. He does not procrastinate at all. He hates waiting to finish something that needs to be done. As a result, he's academically successful, and responsible. He's always on time, and most of the time, early to everything. He's pretty sure of himself, but there is some doubt and insecurity, because of his sexuality and religion. Once he feels attracted to a guy, he'll try to avoid that guy at all costs. Which is hard, since some of his teammates are very cute. It's a struggle. If Tanner sees somebody upset, or struggling with something, he won't hesitate to help. He doesn't care who is around or who sees. He feels like his place on Earth is to be a good person, and part of that is caring about others. He tries his best to do the right thing, but everybody makes mistakes. He tries to not get hung up on the fact he's attracted to guys, but his pastor father does sometimes get into his head, and he wonders if something is wrong with him. He'll deny vehemently that he's gay, fearing that maybe, God won't love him. The weird thing is, he accepts everybody else, but he struggles to accept himself. He tries really hard to not "act gay" or to be straight, so, he may go along with gross comments about girls/women his teammates make, or even make some himself. He never feels proud afterward, but he fears somebody finding out the truth.
a p p e a r a n c e
Tanner looks like the charming boy next door type. He has a boyish smile and grin, his eyes always smiling along with his mouth. He stands at an even 6'0, with broad shoulders and a small waist, giving him a dorito-shaped torso. He's very fit and lean because of playing football for most of his life, and his skin is an almost contact tan color. He has short, dirty blonde hair that he parts to the side, his bangs fluffing enough that they never touch his forehead. He has shocking blue eyes, only being made more noticeable by his long, dark eyelashes and his light-colored eyebrows. Tanner likes to wear jeans, graphic-tees, button-ups, hoodies, and sneakers. He almost always has his varsity jacket on, no matter the weather. Sometimes, he'll go without it, but it's rare. He's proud of being the captain of the Vipers football team and he enjoys showing that pride. He keeps his clothes casual and comfortable. The item he always has on, no matter what, is a plain golden cross necklace. He has a couple scars from being too rough as a child, and a nasty one on his right arm, from where he broke his arm during a game a couple years ago.
»»————- ★ ————-«« »»————- ★ ————-«« h i s t o r y
Tanner's life is a reflection of a middle class white boy's. He grew up with a father who's the pastor of the local church, and a mother who was a stay at home mom. When he was eight, his mother gave birth to a girl, giving him a little sister named Tabitha. She prefers Tabby but Tanner likes to call her Tabitha to poke fun at her. They even have a golden retriever. The only thing they lack is a white picket fence. Obviously, Tanner grew up in a very religious household. They went to church every Sunday and he watched his father spit words of fire and brimstone, they prayed before every meal, and before they went to bed. They were involved in every church program, and Tanner went to Sunday school three nights a week. The thing is, Tanner loves the religion. He's in the choir and he goes to every event that he's able to. He's a devout Christian, something his parents, especially his father, are very proud of. Yet, there's a big secret he keeps: he's gay. He realized it when he was young, when he was in the locker room and couldn't stop staring at the other boys. It resulted in an embarrassing situation. He has kept his mouth shut about it ever since, because he doesn't want his family finding out. He has read the Bible more times than he count, and what he has taken away from it is that God is loving and accepting. Tanner doesn't hate himself, but he does wish he wasn't gay. It would make his life easier. He fears his family finding out, so he pretends to be straight the best he can. He also avoids anything feminine or any feminine mannerisms, in fear his dad would notice. His father is the type of pastor that believes any sin is going to get somebody into Hell, but especially homosexuality. Tanner doesn't like that at all, but the one time he was fourteen and told his dad God is accepting of everybody, his Dad sat him down and forced him write multiple Bible verses a hundred times. The next day, his hand was so stiff, he couldn't hold the football. After that, Tanner doesn't challenge his dad, but he is getting tired of his father's judgmental and hateful ways.

»»————- ★ ————-«« ♥ romantic interest || ☻ friend/positive impression || ☁ acquaintance/neutral impression || ☠ enemy/negative impression ☻ Kurt Moretti ☻ "Kurt is... Kurt, hahaha. He's kind of a butt-hole, but that won't stop me from helping him." Tanner has experienced Kurt's unpleasant attitude, but that doesn't deter him from talking to him during their shared gym class, or slipping him protein shakes and other little goodies during the day. Tanner likes Kurt, and stands up for him against the people who are prone to bullying. ☁ James Solomon Gershowitz ☁ "Sol is... he seems pretty cool, honestly. Funny dude." Tanner doesn't know Sol all that well, but when he does see him, he's usually smiling and making somebody laugh. That makes Tanner like him. While they haven't really talked, Tanner wouldn't mind befriending him one day. It's just hard, considering high school exceptions of different cliques. ☁ Briella Dominguez ☁ "I admire Bree for the fact she can step outta her own group." Tanner hasn't talked much to Bree, just passing greetings and small talks. He knows a lot of people think she's kind of a b-word, but he tries to not take people at face value. He'd have to get to know her better but, so far, his impression of her is leaning more towards the positive side. Or, uh... like it, I mean. But, I don't like anything else about Lightbringer! Or... Lucy... ugh, crap." What a freaking crush Tanner has on this little Satan. Which is completely ironic, considering his name and how religious Tanner is. Tanner greatly admires the fact he's out and proud, and he'll go out of his way to say hello to him if his fellow teammates aren't around. ☁ Sierra Christine Jameson ☁ "I don't know Sierra all that well. I've seen her in passing, and she's almost always rolling her eyes... which is kind of funny, actually." Tanner doesn't have much of an impression of Sierra. He hasn't really talked to her, and only has heard rumors, which he doesn't listen to anyway. ☁ Brody Keegen Sullivan ☁ "Brody seems really funny and chilled. I've seen some of his skate moves, too. ☁ Billie Jean Amano Jenkins ☁ "I've seen some of Billie's artwork, and wow." Tanner doesn't know Billie at all, but he has caught a glimpse of her artwork. It was amazing. He was very impressed, telling her that, but that's about the only interaction they've had. ☁ Irene Meeks ☁ "Irene is another amazing artist, like... I sometimes wish I had that type of talent." Tanner has a similar view of Irene as he does Billie. Tanner sees Irene as another amazing artist, having caught glimpses of her artwork, and letting her know it. He admires somebody who has creative talent like that. ☻♥ Brad Masters ♥☻ "This guy is my best friend. He's freaking awesome. One of the best players on the team. Probably the best, honestly." Oh, man. Tanner considers Brad his best friend ever. They do spend a lot of time together, and they have a common love of football and keeping fit. Tanner goes to Brad often for tips on staying healthy or the right form for a new move. It helps Brad is really cute... but, Tanner loves him as a friend and brother, and nothing more. Seriously. ☁ Mina Nicole Thomas ☁ "I don't know Mina well, but she seems really sweet. Oh, and she kicks butt at basketball! I've been a few games, and wow!" Tanner immediately has a good impression of anybody who can play a sport well. Especially somebody who appears very nice and friendly. As a result, he has a more positive impression of Mina, and has no trouble giving passing hellos or having small talk with her. ☻ Dominique Porsha Saunders ☻ "Domi is my girl. I love spending time with her. She's just... really amazing." Tanner likes Dominique and her strong personality. He enjoys her sass, and it often makes him laugh, even when it's directed towards him. If he wasn't gay, he knows he would have went for her. He wishes he was attracted to her like that, but alas. He enjoys being her best friend. Domi is his girl, and he adores her. ☁ Calien King ☁ "The few times I've passed Calien in the hall, she seems friendly. She is kind of quiet, though." Tanner wouldn't mind getting to know Calien better. He thinks she seems nice, and laid back, though he isn't so sure. He has passed her in the hallways many times, but has never done nothing more than just smiled at her if he caught her eye. ☻"♥" Katia Corriveau "♥"☻ "Katia is... wow. I adore her. She's my best friend, and... I'm lying to her. I don't deserve her..." Tanner is using Katia as his beard. He's dating her to benefit his image, to prove he is not gay, and that he's completely straight. So straight, he's dating a hot cheerleader. He feels super horrible about it, because he truly does care about Katia, and sees her as a sister. Which makes this all so much worse (and awkward). He doesn't want to lose her, but he feels like he's leading her on, too. He truly believes he doesn't deserve her. ☁ Innes Stingray ☁ "Uh, Innes... really gives "keeping to yourself" a new meaning. I rarely see him, and when I do, he smells like cigarettes." Honestly, Tanner doesn't know what to think about Innes. He doesn't see Innes often, and when he does, Innes is by himself. He has tried to say hello to him, and got a cold shoulder in return. He doesn't let that affect his opinion of Innes, though, and instead, is mostly confused by him.
