[b]Powers:[/b] Dirk has an affinity for electricity. This allows him to perceive electrical stimuli in an area of 100 feet around himself. This acts as a sort of radar, as Dirk can also sense the electrical signals that occur in living beings. As well, Dirk naturally takes in small amount of electricity from electrical sources and stores it within his body. The most he can do with this is unload it on a person/object he comes in physical contact with, though (at this time, at least) Dirk is not able to store enough electricity to cause much harm to a healthy person. At best, he can only stun them.

[b]Weaknesses:[/b] Only within 75 feet does Dirk get a clear idea of what he is sensing. Stimuli at the edge of his radar can't be distinguished from each other. His senses go all out of whack when in the presence of high amounts of electricity, such as a lightning storm. During moments of extreme stress or emotion, it's possible for Dirk to haphazardly release electricity.

[b]Personality:[/b] Dirk likes to present himself as a confident sort of person. He'll stand up straight, keep his shoulders square, and offer a handshake to most people he meets. However, Dirk tends to be wary of people. He's pretty sensitive and can take even slight comments to heart. He's easy to put on the defensive. He hides his insecurities, often being snide or sarcastic to cover it.

[b]Appearance:[/b] A chubby boy with short sandy brown hair and eyes that are a bit small and squinty for his lumpy face. He's often found hooded in a sweater and wearing shorts.

[b]Outfit:[/b] A black face mask that wraps around Dirk's head and covers his nose/mouth. A navy blue turtleneck made of rubber that covers both his arms. A red strip goes from his left shoulder to his right hip. For his legs, Dirk wears dark blue pants.

[b]Bio:[/b] Dirk's mother was pretty well-known in the area as she was once a news anchor for the local newscast of Engine City. Dirk always found it fascinating to see his mother [i]on television[/i] and decided at a young age he wanted to just be like her. His interests changed throughout his early teens and he eventually decided he'd rather be behind the cameras rather than in front of them. For sixteen years of his life, Dirk didn't imagine his future would be anything special.

His powers had started to develop since he was thirteen, but they weren't strong enough to amount to anything and Dirk never quite understood he even had any power. He fried his family's camera once by accident and tended to often have pesky little static shocks.

His father had been a big fan of baseball. Although Dirk decided he didn't like playing the game after only a few months of being on a team, he still watched games with has father. He enjoyed having an interest he could share with his dad, and they often attended games. At sixteen years old, Dirk attended a game with his father much like usual, but something tragic occurred that day. A man in the stands suddenly burst into flames, his screams sending the people around him into a frenzy. Out of his hands spewed fire and it had engulfed many of the people around him. Dirk's father had been one of the unlucky ones. When it was all over, the man was dead, his body burned beyond recognition. All-in-all, there had been five casualties in total. Dirk's father had died in the hospital.

There was much confusion surrounding the incident. It had been rather chaotic and witnesses gave varying recollections. When the incident was ultimately decided to be a freak superhuman accident, Dirk became afraid. He was starting to understand that he had a power and it scared him that he was like the man who killed his father. Dirk started fearing for his own life, worried that he wouldn't be able to control himself eventually either. He fell into a depression along with his mother, who took leave from her job due to her grief.

Desperate for answers, Dirk ended up falling in with an amateur hero group, who started him on accepting himself. They were together for two years before two of their members died.
