He took it as it was offered, nodding in thanks slightly as he watched the barkeep glance around the crowded tavern. He shrugged slightly as his quest for a captain, or at least a good story, seemed to be dashed, for now. However his ears pricked up again as Nigel continued, and he followed the older mans gesture, turning to look back at the table of three he had noticed earlier. He raised an eyebrow slightly, before turning back to the bar. "My thanks, friend. For the story, but mostly for the scotch of course!" Reaching into the inside pocket of his jacket, William pulled out his wallet and leafed through it for a minute before dropping a coin into Nigel's outstretched hand. "And keep the change." William was in no rush, and he took a first sip from his glass. The smile didn't fade. The scotch was local, he could tell that much. The lowlands distilleries had that distinctive lack of peat in the taste. Strangely enough, it almost made him nostalgic. His first drink had been in a modest and lively tavern on the banks of the River Spey, years past, and the local distillery... He couldn't remember the name of it now. But they hadn't used peat either, and with the drink in his hand, he was a teenage boy again, just for the briefest instant, and then it was gone. Taking another drink of the scotch, William turned, and strode across the tavern. In truth, he'd been half-listening to the trio's conversation since they'd walked in, and he already had a good idea that if any of inn's patrons were going to lead to a good story, it would be these three. As he approached, he stopped, flashing a smile. "I'm sorry to intrude gentleman, madam. But you wouldn't be Lord Egerton by any chance, would you?"
