Men in shining armor, kilts, and damsels in distress. If the word perky breasts isn't in the book Deb feels like she was ripped off from Half Price Books. • Weary Traveler | Spending a lot of her young years traveling with her veteran husband Deb felt a love for travel early on in life. Jim and her continued to travel now and again across the states when they could in their caravan. Her travels have slowed down immensely, but every once in awhile she will be invited with her son's family to go to an apple orchard or other family event. //Dislikes: • Seventy not senile | Being told you're not allowed to do things that you used to be able to do on your own can be very frustrating. Deb lost her license earlier this year after hitting into a stop sign while coming home from the grocery store. Anytime someone tells her she can't do something or they offer too much help without her asking for it she will get flustered quickly. • Dr. Dre isn't a doctor | Rap music is loud and just grown men yelling. Deborah dislikes "rap" music though she categorizes anything that isn't quiet enough for her as rap music. She prefers classical and was head over heels when her son bought her an iPod loaded with her favorite musical pieces. Elvis is also acceptable but only if his hips aren't wildly gyrating around the town. //Fears: • Death looms around each corner | Getting old, losing her sense of self, and not being able to take care of herself is on Deb's mind now and again and the whole concept makes her a bit uneasy. Anything that reminds her superstitions; black cats, stepping on cracks, and the like make her double take and avoid at all costs.[/sub]
[SUB]Resources[/sub] [sup]___________________________________[/sup]
[sub]//Skills: • Easy as A-Z | With a respectable career Debora excelled in, her organizing, sorting, and puzzle solving skills are impressive. Crossword puzzles are something she often enjoys doing to keep her mind fresh and moving. • Accordion to me | Surprisingly enough Deb likes aerobics and is a not terrible to look at dancer. Though she isn't doing back flips or "that angry rap dancing" she is a part of a weekly polka meet up that is broadcast to a public television channel every Wednesday at six am. //Paraphenalia: • iPod Nano | Thanks to David, Deb always has her old school music player with her. She sometimes forgets that it needs to be charged and gets angry when it won't turn on right away but she knows her way around the little thing fairly well. • Oh that's just Jim | In the form of a diamond necklace Deb carries her dead husband's ashes in the form of a jewelry statement piece. She gets a little kick about when other's ask where she got it from so she can say her husband, and go into detail about how literal that phrase is. She doesn't ever take it off, and often plays with it when she is in a place of discomfort.[/sub]
[/cell][cell][sub] Appearance Details[/sub] [sub][sup]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/sup][/sub]
Deborah was quite the catch in her day. Though she has aged, one would say she has done it like a fine wine prooving she has still retained some of her beauty, style and grace! She is a bit over five foot five weighing around one hundred and thirty seven pounds; petite and well shaped. Deb has naturally black hair that she has let gone gray in a stylish fashion; dyeing the back biweekly at her local salon. Her eyes are an endearing shade of blue and usually crinkled up in a smile. Besides her charming smile, Deborah prides herself in her appearance and likes to keep as fashion forward as her age allows.
[sub] Character Synopsis[/sub] [sub][sup]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/sup][/sub]
As Deb continues into her long life, she could drone on and on about stories to what got her to where she is now. She'd start off with a story about her childhood on how both of her parents worked at a small cafe in North Dakota, her mother a waitress and her father a cook. Her father loved the way her mother danced, so very much so that he gave her a family of eight. Deborah was the second to last youngest daughter, her younger and only brother just a few years behind. They lived a fairly average life, in a surprisingly small home but it was filled with laughter and love and righteousness. In her teens she would fall in love with a boy named Henry, and then after that was all over she would fall in love with a man named Jim who she married after high school but before he was shipped off to the Navy Base. She would follow him to every state, country, and hub until they would finally settle back home in North Dakota. A few years later Deborah would have a child of her own, named David after her own father- her one and only child. She raised him with laughter, love, and righteousness as well. Getting older and having a bit more time on her hands rather than traveling and raising children, Deb went to the local elementary school and applied for a librarian position. It wasn't really official and she never had gotten herself a college degree, but she learned fast and worked hard and that was good enough for them. After over twenty years at the school she would retire and spend the rest of her days with Jim enjoying the visits with her grand kids. Jim passed unexpectedly from colon cancer, and Deborah swore it was all the junk food he ate. Calcium, and cod liver oil would keep her living forever she claimed to anyone who would listen. After a few years, David thought his mom should get back out into the world and travel again- to shake off the ever lingering fear of her own demise. A ticket to Louisiana was given to her and Deb was packed and on her way, excited to explore a state that was rich in culture and history that she had not yet to visit.
[sub] Personality[/sub] [sub][sup]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/sup][/sub]
Happy go lucky with a little bit of moxie. Deborah feels like just because she is over seventy years old she is not senile. Though her views are conservative and traditional she is not cruel or loudly arrogant; misinformed and sheltered and sometimes speaking without really thinking about consequences. Deb likes to spend as much time talking to others as she does being by herself. Socializing often tires her out if it is done for more than a few hours at a time. She would rather have her head in a really good book than gossiping; though sometimes she can't help herself. Her grandchildren are very important to her, and she dotes on them whenever her son allows it. Deborah doesn't believe in most doctors, therapists, or anything that has to do with mental health. "If you're feeling depressed, just be thankful you have food on your table!" type of personality. She sometimes trails off on stories that don't have any point or connection to the topic at hand, but she means well.
[sub] Relationships[/sub] [sub][sup]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/sup][/sub]
To be determined
[sub]Miscellaneous[/sub] [sub][sup]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/sup][/sub]
Deborah has just changed one of her medications, and has started to experience a form of dementia called sun-downing. Though it has not progressed terribly, it has been noted in her medical file.
[/cell][/row]
