He stands at nearly six feet in height, and easily weighs in at just under two hundred pounds. He has a short kempt beard of black and silver, with a similarly colored close-cropped haircut. He is broad shouldered and muscular, with a large nose that's strangely bent, as if its been broken one to many times. Across his face he has innumerable smile lines, and wrinkles as his features are usually twisted into a amusing expression or a craggy, mischievous grin. He stands straight backed and proud, his chin up and his eyes alight with energy and interest, but he walks with an ever so slight limp. Jean has a gravely voice, (common to smokers) and a disposition to stroke his beard while reading or in deep thought. He tends to dress in plain, dark clothing, but is always wearing his brown Molon Labe baseball hat which he is quite attached to. [/indent][/color]

[color=black][indent] Born and raised in West Texas, Jean was brought into the world to a disjointed family, in a small, out-of-the-way town. His father was perpetually in jail, commonly on charges of assault, while his mother was suffering through serious drug and alcohol abuse. When Jean was only five he was placed into the custody of a decent, stand-up Christian family who brought him up well, keeping him from a similar outcome to his parents. He was still very young, just starting high school when his birth father committed suicide behind bars, and his mother overdosed removing any possibility for him to get to know, or even attempt to reform his parents.

	Despite his early, rough childhood Jean became a rather academically adept student, excelling at mathematics in particular, however once he graduated school instead of heading straight to college and getting a degree as expected, the Iranian Hostage Crisis kicked off and Jean began his military career. Raised to be patriotic he found the blatant affront personally infuriating, and enlisted at once into the Marine Corps Infantry with a desire to fight his countries battles wherever that might be. Although he was enthusiastic, and there were a spattering of minor conflicts across the world Jean wouldn't see combat until the Lebanese Civil War. Between those times he was married, then divorced, and then married again. His success with women had always been fleeting in nature, however with his second wife he finally settled in for the long term commitment. From that point in his life he was sent off to war in Lebanon, and after that he served several more combat tours in Panama, Iraq, and Kuwait before he was wounded in action in Somalia. He was medically discharged from the Marine Corps and after recovering he sought out a less violent career in teaching middle school mathematics, a field he had continued to excel in.

	Spending several years both recovering from his personal trauma, and the death of his wife later on he delved much of his time during the next decade at home, living life in a very methodic way. It was only when he started to recover that he started venturing out into the world more. Jean had always liked to travel, and he had a desire to see the entirety of the land he fought to protect before he passed away. So, during the latest summer vacation he left off doing a summer job and spent his savings on a few bus tickets to tour the Gulf of Mexico, visiting the neighboring states of Florida, and Louisiana. A trip that was proving itself to be a bit more interesting then he had originally bargained for.

[INDENT][color=black]Overall, the simplest way to describe someone like Jean is as a calm, pragmatic person with a dry sense of humor. He is uncreative in this regard, sticking to what's worked before and being largely intolerant of nonsense or over the top displays of emotion. He has never been the most sensitive person, his life and career having a sharpening effect on his already hardnosed disposition. He is curt and sarcastic when he's irritated, and blunt and sarcastic every other time. However, he isn't a cold hearted old prick, being both capable and willing to view real hardships and give both a tough shoulder to lean on, and frank advice. That being said, Jean is prone to long winded stories, detailing his life experiences and how others can learn from them, whether they want to or not and he is perfectly capable of holding very one-sided conversations. His gruff voice is dominate in all situations, and he is quick to make himself heard the first time, by everyone he wants to be heard by, when he wants to be heard. Being as he is the product of an older generation his view of modern life is disparaging at best, and downright scornful at worst. Often telling of how is upbringing kept him on the straight and narrow, and how kids this days have no respect. His interest in rooting out the degeneracy was what led him to becoming a school teacher in the first place, a profession which places him on the front lines to stamp out ridiculousness before it takes root. And stamp out he does. Jean is well versed in instilling a sense of respect in people, or at least a healthy sense something. [/color][/INDENT]
