She had spent time at the academy on four different occasions by now, and truth be told, Madeline failed to notice any difference in the headmaster's speech from the years before. In the end, it was always the same dictation of "another year of promise, creativity, and wisdom" that Madeline had to power through lest she fall asleep where she stood. Sweetened, honeyed words were for the easily enamored, after all. Once she received her schedule and had met with her homeroom instructor, Madeline was quick to follow the trail of students that led towards the academy's dining hall. She hadn't cared for friendly conversation; no, Madeline's only desire was to find a suitable position among the many tables of the dining hall. Being stuck in a room with a group of idiotic nobles and moronic upstarts was already enough, but having to ask to sit with them to find a place to sit down? It had been a thought that led Madeline to cringe. Madeline despised those around her, and she had no intention to suck up to someone on the first day. As Madeline sat down and placed the appropriate meal card down on the table, she found herself wandering. Her thoughts shifted to the girl earlier this morning, which Madeline wondered where the girl had went. It wasn't hard to pinpoint someone who clearly appeared as if they didn't belong here, and surely Madeline wasn't talking to a ghost, right? Eventually, her thoughts waltzed back to the academy itself. Each student was paired with another individual, and for as long as the term lasted, they were to be roommates. In general, Madeline never had a great relationship with any of her roommates, and her previous roommate from the year before was not returning to the academy this year, therefore she was destined to be paired with someone new or in a similar situation. Glancing around the dining hall, Madeline considered several girls as possibilities before ultimately shrugging and leaning back into the wooden chair she sat upon.
