Players must cut deals with other megacorporations, nations and forge temporary alliances to gain leverage and financial superiority over their corporate rivals, all the while trying to maintain order and profitability. Set in the year 2091, the current landscape has changed dramatically. The political machinations are largely irrelevant, as megacorporations wield more political, economic and military power than most nations alone. Profit, corporate espionage and the board of directors run the world now. Citizens are viewed almost exclusively as customers and profits--whether through corporate espionage or innovation--is the ultimate goal. Drop some interest here. That being said, A.I. is stupendously expensive. - Weapons: Development of small arms as well as Mobile Frames, vehicles and technologies for combat applications is nearly endless. There is never a soldier that isn't looking for a new shiny weapon or a war for him to go die in. - Pharmaceuticals: Never have there been more illnesses that customers need to take care of. Researching new products will keep our customers alive and buying! - Biotechnology: Utilization and integration of technology on the cellular level is putting companies on the forefront of medical breakthroughs. - Heavy Manufacturing: There now exist single structures where--from start to finish--products are pieced together overnight. Alongside them, there are massive, complicated machines where industries spend half their net worth to simply get running. - Genetic Engineering: Change at the molecular level is similar to biotechnology, except here the industry is entirely organic. Whereas biotechnology may implant a chip to enhance neural function, those dubbed "gengineers" (genetic engineers) simply rewrite and unlock new code to unlock the limitations of the human condition. - Communication: Telecommunication corporations are the cornerstone of the world, keeping us connected at all times. - Cybernetics: - Aerospace: The exploration of aviation is imminent in that new Stratocities now allow a new world where the ultra rich no longer have to tread the same ground as the peasants. Aerospace technology is leading the way on bridging that gap. - Virtual Reality: Dubbed the Second Universe, Virtual Reality is on the verge of existing with it's own infrastructure, economy and politics. - Cloning: An industry all it's own--though pairing well and often crossing into Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, "RepTech" is considered the "Technology of God," whereas growing human bodies is the trade of the day. - Space: Lunar exploration is gearing up on a whole new level, as are space walks and deep space exploration. - Finances: Financing is neither new or exciting. It is however an easy way of making money by lending funds to other corporations at a nice interest rate. - Energy: Mining and resource extraction may not seem exciting, but they pay the bills. - Security: Private Military Corporations legalized under the International Military Privatization Act of 2077 has turned every street walking mercenary into a soldier of fortune. - Transportation: Cars, as dull as they may be, are still the most significant industry in the world--as nations once considered "Developing"--Africa, Southeast Asia and Siberia, are now becoming hotbeds are transportation. - Media: While the only product they sell is information, media is absolutely necessary for selling your product and making the customer your friend. - Electronics: Handheld electronics have continued to evolve into the ultimate consumer good. While they're not the flashiest, they are often the insular platform for which many other technologies are achieved. - Cybersecurity: Cybersecurity is both the first offensive and defensive weapon in a megacorporation's arsenal. Protecting against black hat attacks might be the difference between sinking and swimming. - Robotics:
