Following beside the thug and hoping the two of them could caught or track down the girl and the other two, He had hoped they could caught her before anyone came or the cops came before they could do their job. The young villain was using what tracking skills he did have to track the foot prints of what he assumed was the girl's own, And taking in the suggestion of the thug figuring out the direction and where he would hide if he was being chased down by villains.

He hoped he could figure some clue to her location or the location of any other students they can deal with or take hostage. And indeed he was surprised their was no cops coming or at the very least the more experience heroes, He wondered if this was some sort of distraction like they anticipated the villains coming here.
