And even then, it seemed like the slightest bit of cover created an absolute darkness capable of hiding all sorts of monster. The party can choose to wait until morning to travel forth again, or proceed onwards into the night. They have effectively gained all the benefits of a long rest, they they won’t gain anything further if they continue to wait until morning. Angus’ fire would still be going fairly strong by the time the storm lifts, though it won’t last entirely throughout the night. More wood would be needed to keep the flame lit.
