Something powerful lay ahead of him, burning like a beacon to his senses, bright and intense and tempting him in like a moth to a flame; Alex flew after it, well aware that it was probably a bad idea but unable to resist the promise of a challenge, of a strong opponent. He was supposed to be heading towards the dojo of a Master Kojiro, an old acquaintance of his own master apparently, to begin undertaking what his master had described as ‘emergency training’. Alex had not been able to get much more out of the old man after that, just something about how they needed to be prepared for what was to come; the response was unusually cryptic coming from a man who was most often blunt, stern and straight forward, but the omen was said with enough solemnity that even Alex had to take it seriously. As far as he could guess it had something to do with the powerful energy they had sensed earlier. His master had suddenly called a stop to their training that morning, stopping and staring into the distance as his face went white as a sheet; then Alex felt it himself, a source of energy stronger than anything he had felt before, stronger than any opponent he had ever faced, stronger even than his master who was no slouch in his old age. After than his master had disappeared for a while, only to suddenly come back and announce he was being sent off to train with some guy he had never heard of along with a group of other students. Whatever it was he had sensed earlier, it must be serious to provoke this kind of reaction. He had never seen his master shaken like that before. It was while he was on the way to the dojo that he had felt it; another energy source. It wasn’t as powerful as the one before, though still strong in its own right, but it was flaring, as if whoever it was was trying hard to draw attention to themselves. So of course Alex took the bait, he had to, especially when he realised that whoever this was was flying directly towards the powerful energy from before. Eventually Alex caught up to the beacon, overtaking them and pulling in front to block their path before stopping. What he saw was someone who looked mostly human, aside from the monkey tail flowing behind them, though judging from the strange armour they wore they weren’t from anywhere around here. Crossing his arms over his chest Alex put on a cocky grin and called out to the woman. “Hey beautiful. You look pretty tough. Do you have anything to do with that energy I sensed earlier?” Alex jerked a thumb over his shoulder in roughly the direction the other energy was now, detectable through his senses even when he wasn’t looking that way.
