[@Crusader Lord] Go ahead and move her over! And yes, those effects do exist but they are temporary. Using magic to enhance physical properties does put a strain on the body after a while. As for protecting you against an element, there are short term wards. Long term wards need to be reinforced regularly and the sheer amount of magic they accumulate makes them static.

[@Scribe of Thoth] Metal is an acceptable element. Since it is such a stubborn element, casting with will alone will be difficult. You will need some medium but otherwise it's perfectly fine!
