She knew, for instance, that the Globe Theatre in London was the only building with a thatched roof. She knew that water boiled at 100 degrees, she knew that Voldemort died in the end, she knew many, many things, and now she knew that sex with Scott Lyon was fucking amazing. Or should it be, amazing fucking? Granted, Katie didn’t have anything to compare it to. She’d kissed boys before, but that was the extent of her sexual awakening. Until tonight. Now, Katie was lying down, nestled into Scott’s side, her hand absentmindedly tracing circles against his bare chest. This, she had decided, was good. As her eyes drifted across the room, she spotted an anomaly amongst the many other decorations. “What’s that?” Katie asked, pointing to a piece of fabric adorned with a number of patches, draped across a chair. If you asked Scott what the best day of his life was, up until an hour ago, he would have confidently said the day that he beat Katie in the school chess tournament. Now? It would be today. From the anxiety of telling her his feelings, to the exhilaration of kissing her for the first time, and finally… the capstone; the climax of what they’d just done. It was perfect, and he’d remember it forever. When she was snuggling against him, Scott was gazing at her body and playing with her hair. He wasn’t paying attention to much else, because the truth was nothing else really mattered, and it wasn’t until she spoke that the spell was broken. Scott looked away and peered toward what she was pointing at, “Oh, uh. That’s my Boy Scout sash.” Katie sat up, holding a blanket to her chest, and looked at Scott, confusion etched across her face. “I’m sorry, are you telling me that I just lost my virginity to a Boy Scout?” the blonde asked. There was no way Scott could be a Boy Scout, no fucking way. She was sure this was some sort of joke, some elaborate plan to mess with her. “Well, I’m a couple of weeks away from being an Eagle Scout, but… yeah.” Scott replied, watching her sit up and out of his arms. “Is this a big deal?” He asked, sitting up as well; though Scott didn’t make the effort to cover himself with a blanket, instead he just tilted his head. Why was she acting like it was weird? “I guess it just never came up before?” “It’s just, when I thought about what you did in your free time I thought of you and AJ riding around trying to pick up girls, not you pitching tents and selling popcorn,” Katie said, smirking. She was beginning to realize, that there was still a lot about Scott that remained a mystery to her. “You are just full of surprises.” Scott shook his head as she smiled at him and rolled his eyes, “look, AJ’s cool and he's my best friend, but the dude is kind of a whore… he doesn't really do the Scout stuff with me.” Scott said as he twisted his body to look more directly at her, and added, “for the record, I don't ride around picking up chicks. I was also a virgin.” “AJ and my brother used to screw in my house, all the time. I am very aware that AJ is far from Scout material,” Katie said, chuckling. She blushed at Scott’s admission and placed a hand against his chest. “You coulda fooled me,” she replied, winking. Smiling, she glanced over to her phone, and saw there was a text from her mom. Grabbing it off the nightstand, she swiped it open, and scanned the text. From:Mommy On our way home :) We’re bringing you breadsticks! “Fuck!” Katie leaped out of bed and frantically began putting her clothes back on, muttering expletives to herself before finally looking up at Scott. “I need you to get dressed, and take me home, or else my mom is going to kill me, and this will be the one and only time we have sex,” Katie said as she pulled her pants on. Meanwhile, at the Callaghan home, a different car pulled up to the house and parked in front of it. Specifically? Owen Lyon’s red and black Lamborghini Aventador. Owen shut off the car and walked up to the door, carrying a copy of the day's newspaper. He reached out a hand and pushed the doorbell button. Now, he waited. This phase of his plan was either going to go very well, or exceedingly poorly. Either way, at this point it was premeditated, and that carried a much longer vacation than heat of passion. Beating Jamie up was no longer an option — now he had to teach Jamie to quit playing with his name in other ways. Alison and Henry Callaghan had just arrived home from their own date night. The twins were at their friends house, Jamie was temporarily ungrounded so he could go out with Marshall, and Katie was, as far as they knew, locked in her room listening to unnecessarily loud music. When the doorbell rang, Alison came out of the kitchen, where she’d been putting away leftovers from dinner, her heels clacking against the marble floor. “I’ve got it Henry!” she called, as she opened the door to see an unfamiliar, teenage boy standing on her doorstep. “Can I help you?” she asked, smiling kindly from behind the door. Owen returned the smile as she opened the door and even went so far as to hold his hand out for her to shake. “Hi, Mrs. Callaghan. I’m Owen Lyon; you might know my mother… but that’s not important. I go to school with Jamie and Katie, and I was wondering if I could talk to you for a little bit? About Jamie.” There, that was a good start, right? Alison’s smile was replaced by a perplexed expression. Why would Kylie Lyon’s son be here? She’d met Kylie a few times, at various red carpets and charity events, but they weren’t exceptionally close. She knew that Owen was in Jamie’s year though, which brought her back to the question of why he wanted to talk about Jamie. “Come in,” Alison said, opening the door all the way for Owen to come in. She shut the door behind him, and then led him to the sitting room. The sitting room was a small, square room, with a luxurious red loveseat, and two matching arm chairs, set in a circle around a glass coffee table. Alison took one of the armchairs, and gestured towards the loveseat. “Please, take a seat.” Alison smiled softly as Owen sat down, and once he was she jumped straight to the point. “Now, what did you want to discuss?” “Straight to the point. I can appreciate that.” Really, Owen was horribly awkward when talking to people, so skipping the small talk was good for him. He’d already played out what he was going to say in his head multiple times, and that she was just going to let him say it made the whole situation a lot easier on him. “On Tuesday night, there was a party hosted by Brian Helmsley on a boat. I’m sure you’re aware of this, but Jamie was there. On the boat, he spoke with my then-ex-but-we’re-together-now girlfriend, Trixie Kingsley. I guess they talked about our relationship, because Trixie — who was very drunk at the time — had a conversation with Ophelia Brycen, my cousin, and Trixie told him what the conversation was about. “I don’t know if you know this, but like my father is, I’m a pretty private person? That’s sort of why, despite being a Lyon, I don’t really attend red carpets, or Galas, or anything like that. And people have wanted me to talk about some drama that happened at school so they could put it on the morning show, or the paper or anything… but I’m not really interested in having my life be in the public eye like that. So I always declined.” He paused, and sat the newspaper down, pointing at the article in question, “Jamie, I guess, went around that; after I’d already asked him not to write about me or this situation. After talking with Trixie, he wrote and published this, I think without talking to the editor, which basically stirs up more drama and is going to do nothing but make my life hell. I’m not above taking things into my own hands, so to speak, but I let cooler heads prevail, and decided to go this route, rather than talking to Jamie myself. That doesn’t work, but I figure his mother can reign him. Thank you for listening.” BOOM. That was fucking easy, and no one would call him a gay beater. Alison sat quietly for a moment after Owen was done talking, mulling over his words. She picked up the paper and read the article Owen had pointed to. She sighed. “Thank you, Owen, for coming to talk to me. I understand where you’re coming from, and I’ll talk to Jamie,” Alison said. Her tone was noticeably colder, tinged with a forced politeness. She stood up, the newspaper in her hand. “Before you go, I wanted to ask you something. Jamie’s black eye, you wouldn’t happen to know where it came from?” Alison was many things, but stupid was not one of them. She knew Jamie’s black eye was from something he’d wanted to keep a secret from her. Owen went to school with him, so it was a fair guess that he’d know something. Owen could sense the shift in her tone of course, and he made a bit of a face. Along with the shift in tone came the realization that she probably didn’t believe him, or worse: didn’t care. On second thought, maybe beating Jamie was what he should have done… no, if he’d done that then the school might expel him or something. The question became ‘is expulsion a bad thing?’ The answer was unfortunately yes, so long as his mother cared about his schooling as she tended to do. When Alison stood, Owen stood up. When she asked her question, he was left at a crossroads. He could either tell her the truth, and risk his whole plan, or he could simply dodge the question, and let things play out the way they were gonna. “Uhm, I don’t know…” Owen then trailed off, looking out past the woman to the window as he noticed someone fumbling around out there… ...Scott couldn’t believe this was happening. He was seriously helping his new girlfriend sneak back into her house so she could act like she’d been home all night. It was like a bad romantic comedy. To top it all off? “What the fuck is Owen’s car doing here?” “I don’t know! Katie hissed as she pushed off her boyfriend’s hand and pulled herself onto her balcony. “He probably came to kick Jamie’s ass, and found my mom instead,” Katie theorized, as she leaned over the balcony railing to peer down at Scott. “Which reminds me, you need to go, so I don’t get murdered.” “I don’t think… I’ll text him, or something. Wait, just like that?” Scott asked, staring back up at her. “I don’t even get like a kiss goodbye?” He didn’t know boyfriend girlfriend etiquette, but it seemed like he was getting the shaft here, and not in the good way. Katie rolled her eyes. “Scott, my parents could discover me at any minute, and this is what you’re worried about?” The blonde turned to go back into her room, before pausing for a moment, and spinning back around to blow a kiss at Scott. “Happy?” she asked, crossing her arms and staring down at Scott. “I guess I’m as happy as I can be.” Scott said, rolling his eyes. He did take the chance to blow her a kiss back, “we’ll do it properly tomorrow?” He asked, before he turned his attention to the window, peering inside of it. “It looks like Owen is talking to your mom?” “What the fuck? What’s he saying?” Katie asked. What could he be talking to her mom about? Was it too much to ask that BHHS and her home stay separate? Meanwhile Alison was waiting for Owen to pick up the train of thought he’d apparently lost, having trailed off into a moment of silence. Cocking her eyebrow and fixing Owen with the same stare that her daughter used on his cousin, she noticed he was staring past her. She began to turn, to see what he was looking at but before she could… Scott you motherfucker… “I punched Jamie! I gave him the black eye.” There, that should at least distract her before she looked across the way and saw Scott and Katie sneaking into the house to do God knows what. Of course, now Owen’s entire plan was flummoxed. Alison whirled back to face Owen, nostrils flaring, her eyebrows knitted together in a piercing glare. “I think it’s time you left, Owen,” she said through gritted teeth, walking past him and towards the front door, which she held open for him. As he walked past her she left him with a warning. “You don’t have kids yet Owen, so I don’t expect you to understand this, but I’m going to say it anyways. If you touch my son, or any of my kids for that matter, ever again, I will not be nearly as kind as I’ve been tonight. Good night.” “Jamie showed up uninvited to private property and hit me first. Just sayin’.” Owen didn’t have anything else to say, and so he walked away. Clearly, this plan wasn’t going to work, and it was high time he pull in bigger guns. Beating Jamie up was looking juicier and juicier every second that passed. He hit the unlock button on his car and slid into the driver’s seat, and he was gone, just as quickly as he’d showed up. “It looks like Owen just left? I don’t know what they were talking about, but neither of them seemed happy.” Scott said up to Katie, with a shrug of his shoulders, “I dunno. I’ll call Owen after I get home, maybe I’ll see what’s up.” It seemed fair to him, and now that Katie was on the roof… it seemed like his work was done. “So I guess I just leave now?” Katie stirred from her thoughts to glance down at Scott. “Oh, uh, yeah. Thank you. Tonight was...it was nice,” Katie said, smiling softly down at Scott. “Let me know what Owen says!” she added, before waving good night, and returning to her room, all without her mother knowing. Mission complete.
