NOTE: The thread has been started! [url]https://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/174744-the-antidote/ooc[/url] Heya! Thanks for visiting my latest interest check. I've been wanting to try my hand at GMing a sizable RP. I had a couple ideas for one and I think this would be a good way to start. [hr] [h1]Overview of what's going on here.[/h1] The player characters (currently planning on allowing up to 2 per player, although I won't expect players to take both slots) will be crew members of a spaceship, having to travel a very long distance on a time-sensitive mission, and then get back. (Which will be slightly less time sensitive) Along the way, they'll be attacked by space pirates, the enemy faction ships, and maybe the occasional cosmic abomination. [hr] [h1]Plot overview[/h1] A few days before the game starts, there was an attempted coup, with the rebels attempting to poison the royal family (yes, space royalty) to death. The coup failed for the most part, but a young princess (and I do mean young, probably 13 to 14) was poisoned. She'll have about a week to live before the poison starts setting in, at which point she'll need to be put into suspended animation, which will prevent any irreversible damage for a little over a month after she's put in. After that, her odds of survival will start decreasing day by day until the poison kills her. The antidote will be very hard to obtain, and the only available source of it is in a hospital halfway across the galaxy. In this plot, I would be playing as the Princess (for the time she's awake) and The Captain (who might also be the pilot if nobody ends up being the pilot). I would also controle some NPCs, some hostile, some friendly. More of the former. While I am mostly sertent on this plot idea, I'm still open to suggestions. [hr] [h1]What I expect from my players, and what they can expect from me[/h1] AKA Rules rough draft. [list] [*] I will do my best to post within a few days to a week of the last person to respond. [*] I expect players to respond to my posts within a week of my GM post. [*] I expect commitment. I don't want people dropping out within a post or three. I understand sometimes life happens and players have to go on hiatus or straight-up drop out, but if that happens I accept a heads up. [*] I expect proper grammar, and at least a paragraph of response. Multiple paragraphs would be preferable, but I know from experience that's not always practical. [*] I expect few typos. I am very prone to typos myself, so I am quite forgiving in this here. Heck, I probably have some typos in this interest check! [*] As my first RP, I can't guarantee particularly fancy BB code for posts. I'll do my best, though. [*] For characters: [list] [*] Aliens Do exist in this world, but the crew of this ship will be primarily human. If you are not human, I expect a description of the alien race. [*] I expect player characters to be part of the military. This includes soldiers, medics, engineers, stuff like that. Non-militants are allowed (14 year old Princess, not expecting her to be part of the military), but I expect justification on why they would be here. [*] The obligatory "no OP characters" rule. Most of the player characters will be human, any alien species made must not be inherently better or more powerful than humans. If an alien is better than a human in same way, they must be worse in another way to balance it out. (for example, and alien could be larger and stronger than a human at the cost of less dexterity, speed, and/or stamina. Not that you have to use this balance, just an example.) [*] Pictures are nice, and assuming I go with the planned plot I'll be providing picture reference for the Princess. (and possibly the Captain) But since I don't usually use pictures, I won't demand them from my players. [*] I'm going to discourage romance. But considering romance is all but a given in any sort of plot involving Princesses. So if my players want to try to romance the Princess, fine. But make the character that is going to romance her within her age range. No pedophilia. That's creepy. [*] Expanding upon the previous point and the 2nd character point, characters are expected to be in the military. Teenagers generally aren't allowed into the military, so justify any underaged characters. [/list] [*] No 18+. This is probably going to be a dark role play and so I am fine with mature elements such as violence, heavy emotions, and other complexe topics. But gore is pushing it and blatant sexual themes are an absolute no. [*] And finally, I don't want to expect something of my players that I wouldn't expect from myself. If I break my own rules, call me out on it. I'm going to be the best GM I can be but this is my first attempt at GMing. I'm going to make mistakes. [/list] Thanks for reading this through. If people are interested fast enough, I'll try to put together the propper thread within a week or so. Even if not, I'll keap the check up a month before considoring it dead.
