Oh man, I used to LOVE Digimon as a kid, but I remember so little about it. What was broken about the crest of light?

Also, does anyone happen to know a site that displays all the Digimon evolutionary lines? I... honestly have no idea where to start looking into a partner digimon, 'cause I know literally not a single line outside of Season 1 protagonist Digimons, heh.
