Whether through his own failings or a matter of circumstances beyond his control, he never was happy compromising or just trying to relax and enjoy what fate had given him. It comes across as a need and desire to be involved. He's always restlessness to go out, to learn more, to be a part, to do something that matters. He relishes in achievement, lusts for success, and favors those moments in the spotlight, but they never last long enough. He wants to be great, but is only average. He dreams of being more than what he is. When it comes to dealing with others, he acts a bit like a teacher. Calm, collected, not particularly charismatic, but kind and approachable with a warm smile and a thoughtful compliment. Trying to mentor, learn from, and teach others from his findings and experiences. He had to settle for his current predicament and he took his profession to heart. He wants others to have the chances he never did. He would describe himself as a bit of an extrovert and gets lonely very easily.
Appearance:
His frame is a bit frail, and he always seems to be cold to the touch, like the wind blowing right through him.
Talents:
Academic - A firm understanding of the sciences, math, literature. Bibliophile - Reading books, even fiction, might give him more insight and inspire different courses of action. Dabbler - Meaning he has had a least a hand in a whole bunch of different skills Camping - From his boy scout days Fantasy Nerd - Tolkein, Rowling, Martin, including some table top, he's read them all Retrospective - He has a talent of using past events and experiences as ways to assist him in the present, ie he learns from his mistakes.
Background:
Ever since he was a kid, Jacob thought he was meant for great things. He thought he could be an athlete, then he developed asthma and nearsightedness, cutting him from sports. He thought he would be a doctor or a great thinker. Days and days of studying, and he's only a B+ student. Maybe he'd be great at working with people. He had to get a job in high school to help his parents, meaning he always missed out on the parties or other events that someone would look back fondly on. Okay... maybe he would find success and a career in college, get a degree and get a great job. Recession hit, job market was crap, student debt piled up, he had to go from contract job to contract job of mind numbing desk work before going back to school to be accredited to become a teacher. He couldn't afford to go to medical school, and he needed something that would offer medical benefits. A labor job was right out, so- teacher it had to be. At least he would finally get his summer's back even if he was always making ends meat. With fate that spurned him at every turn he tried to do something, anything to add some semblance of control to a life that seemed to pigeon hole him into a existence of mediocrity. Boy Scouts, College Clubs, Volunteer Work, Self-Help Books, Internships, Tabletop Role Playing for Friends and partially escape. No one can say he didn't try to at least to make a difference.
Equipment: Dagger Like Shard from a Crystal Ball Ratty Robes
