Name: Yasuko Purtscheller Age: 26 Gender: Female Race: Human Personality: Yasuko is a decent mix of energy and self discipline. She is a driven and passionate woman with a love of adventure and exploration, but she is not reckless in her pursuits. Whereas a more bouncy person might sprint off towards an interesting place without a care, Yasuko would take her time before going, but she wouldn’t pass on the opportunity to go at all. To her, life is about the journey, and to waste it in search of safety would be to simply lay down and wait for death. If she were to sum up her philosophy, she would say “Why do we climb mountains? Because they’re there!” Background: Yasuko is the daughter of a Japanese mother and an Austrian father. As an avid mountain climber in his homeland, he inevitably roped his wife into his hobby, and eventually their daughter too. To hear him tell it, he’d say she was “born to hold a pick in her hand”. Certainly, it wasn’t long after her birth that Yasuko started to lose herself in athletic pursuits. She was a runner, a climber, and even a horseback rider before she turned 20. In all these pursuits, a proud father stood behind her, encouraging her ever further. Her life could not be nothing but sports and leisure, of course. Her mother’s influence played a key role here. Hobbies could be indulged in freely only when and if she had the time and only if she was certain not to ruin herself doing so. She was the counterbalance to her father’s eagerness, always insisting they double check and triple check that they had what they needed before going anywhere or doing anything. As per her direction, Yasuko acquired a comfortable job as an office worker to give her a stable income. Her heart was never really in it, but she certainly never slacked off at her job, as she knew she could explore little to nothing if she were penniless. She never desired to rise above her position, as she did not see the career ladder as a height worth climbing. Having climbed a few peaks here and there, Yasuko eventually wanted to try her hand at one of the big ones. She chose Kilimanjaro to be her first great step into the world of mountain climbing. Unfortunately, no matter how talented or well prepared a climber may be, they can never be completely safe from freak accidents. Half way through the climb, Yasuko slipped up, and ended up falling to her death.
