I saw an interview with Wil Smith one time where he was talking about the planning stages of [i]The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,[/i] and the guy who played Carlton told him no matter what form the show took, Wil's character needed to be named Wil, so people will remember his name.  Hence, nearly 30 years later, Wil Smith is a household name and the guy who played Carlton is "the guy who played Carlton."
