Beatrix knew that firsthand. She laid on her back, on her bed, in gray sweat pajamas. Thinking. Just thinking. All her actions led to this moment, where her ‘end game’ lover felt it was necessary to ground her. Groundage in the form of limited affection and time spent in her room to contemplate her life so far. As if her mother’s talk wasn’t enough. No Friday night fun night with her friends. Well, what friends? Trixie didn’t know who to consider as her ride or dies. alliances, frenemies, and simply put, those she could use. People that benefit her and the school. In other words, those that benefited Hailey. Her life was upside down and she was seen as weak and stupid from the whole student body. How was she going to redeem herself now? HOT had fallen, yet at the end of this dark tunnel was Owen. She had Owen again. Being fallen wasn’t so bad. She had love. What mattered more? That didn’t change she felt friendless, hated, and dumb. On top of that, she felt lonely. She hated that feeling the most. Luna and Stella were family, but her actual friends? The people she’d run to at school? Anyone other than Owen? There was no one. Or at least, that’s how it felt. Maybe, just maybe, she wasn’t as alone as she thought she was. Not wanting to be left to her own devices, since Owen was preoccupied with catching up with his sister, Trixie had scanned through her contact list, finding a loophole in her punishment. Her dark, naturally seductive gaze caught sight of her favorites.
Hailey: Yeah, no. She wasn’t ready to confront her. Marshall: Usually, she would, but not tonight. He had enough going on, especially now that he and Jamie were an item, but also… that dinner was awkward. Jamie? He was on Owen’s shitlist. It was best if, for now, she kept her distance. At least until next week. There was Selena, though! Actually. No. Nevermind. Too close to Hailey.
Her eyes stopped on Ophelia’s name. Trixie thought about the snap, which led to her thinking about that one fateful drunk night, where she was told everything and she suckerpunched the Candy Queen. Ophelia was her best friend, who probably understood her even more so than Marshall. At the same time, she took part in telling lies. Ophelia tried to sever a bond of love, which goes against everything she stood for. But, Trixie’s eyes couldn’t leave her name. Trixie wanted to talk to her. Trixie didn’t want to be alone. Taking a deep breath in, the latina decided to go the mature route, just like her mama told her to. She was better than this. If she was going to do things right, she needed to talk to her friends. She needed to have heart-to-hearts. She needed to know… why? Why her? First, with Ophelia, then eventually, with Hailey. Since at the end of the day, they were family and if she didn’t attempt to hear their piece, then she wasn’t any better. Adding fire to the fuel was easy, but forgiving and moving forward? That wasn’t.
To: Fifi Are you free?

To: Fifi To comeover.
As was the usual with Ophelia, the response to the text message came at the speed of light. Ophelia was often attached to her phone, and it was completely out of the ordinary for a text message response from the Candyland Queen to take longer than a minute at the absolute maximum to respond to a text message...
From: Fifi Sure! i’ll be rite over!
Welp. It was happening. Ophelia was a bit more understanding than Hailey, so Trixie felt slightly better about herself.

Well, this was worse than Ophelia could have ever imagined. They were just sitting there, awkwardly. Neither one of them had said more than a word of ‘hey.’ Not even the simple ‘how are you?’ ‘I’m great, thanks.’ automatic reply that most people their age had beaten into them by now. No, no. This? This was perfect, absolute silence. Ophelia wasn’t even sitting on the bed, she was just standing there. This was too much. It’d been an eternity! Well, it had been almost five minutes, but it felt like a fucking eternity. She would have none of this! No more, no more! Ophelia would deal with the problems and the repercussions as they came, consequences be damned. What was Trixie gonna do? Make Jamie write another article about her? Whatever. “...so I hear you and Owen are back together.” “Plan to fu—”ck that up too. No. Trixie. Maturity. “—Yes. Yes, we are.” “Yeah, I was thinking I’d find a way to take pictures so it looks like he’s hooking up a redhead? Only it’s Ruby. Don’t tell anyone, it’s a secret.” Ophelia was on the fast track to getting punched in the face again, but it was just the way she was. She thought she was funny. A slight smile cracked on Trixie’s face. “Well, that would be a bit easier since she wears like nothing.” Honestly? The fact that Ophelia used Rose was a feat in its own and Trixie couldn’t tell who she was no matter how many times she looked at the picture. “Yeah, I know. ...unf.” Ophelia hooked a bit of her blonde hair behind her ear, and took a seat in the chair at Trixie’s desk, spinning around in a circle. “I never broke you guys up, on the wall. Because I thought it would right itself eventually. And it… did? I just got a shiner in the process. Someone has to pay for Hailey Green being psychopathic. Guess it might as well be me.” “I guess in the end, the fall out had everything to do with my insecurities. Not so much that you’re a manipulative cunt.” Trixie stuck out her tongue. Insult intended. Her tense shoulders eased, along with the tension. Being real was the best therapy and the only person she had to blame for breaking up with Owen? Was herself. But, she was put between a rock and a hard place. Those times tested characters, she chose wrong. Now, she was fixing it. Fixing everything. “I think I need to talk to her.” Hailey was her cousin, after all. “Yeah, maybe. Well, don’t do it tonight, dude. She missed movie night with Big Ty on Wednesday and is having it tonight with Ty and Hana. So, like… well, I mean I guess if you want her to kill you. Because, I bet she would, dude.” Ophelia warned, spinning in the chair again. She was at least relaxed now, it’d only taken one joke to fix things, “I don’t think anyone has ever interrupted a movie night. That might be a fun experiment! Seeing what happens when it’s interrupted.” “I mean, it’s not like she doesn’t deserve it.” What was Trixie even saying? The best move would be to not ruin Hailey’s time with her father, but part of her wanted to poke the bull. Y’know what? They were already dead. Standing up, she crossed her arms and challenged Ophelia with her stare, “What do we have to lose? Let’s fucking ruin her night.” Ophelia frowned, shaking her head. While she agreed with Trixie that Hailey arguably deserved it, she wasn’t sure it was a good idea… “I don’t know. Making threats and then acting on them is like… Hailey’s game, and sure it would be good to give her a taste of her own medicine, but you have to think about the fallout, right? What about Ty’s night? Or Hana’s night? It’s not like we can ruin Hailey’s night and leave them untouched… I dunno, I don’t wanna ruin a family’s night. Honestly? I don’t even want to ruin Hailey’s. I’m trying to put all this behind me. I’m even going out of my way to accept most of the blame. Shoutout to Jamie.” Grumble. As hotheaded as Trixie wanted to be, Ophelia made sense, as she usually did. However, if there was anyone who taught her how to get even it was both Ophelia and Hailey. Why did she have to take the high road? It was such an annoying, self righteous path. “Fine. She can have her family night.” Trixie was once again annoyed. Seemed to be a common feeling these past couple of days. Plopping her ass back down on the bed, she rolled her eyes, “Fucking Jamie got no sense, but he’s a snake and I knew that. I blame myself. I didn’t know you’d tell me literally everything, so I told Jamie if he could find out more, he’d get to print the story. Didn’t expect it to be this bad. And now I suffer the consequences. That’s what I get for letting my emotions get the best of me!” No Owen love for her. “Well, who told Jamie? Because it sure as fuck wasn’t me, dude.” “Drunk me tried to kill myself. So, I guess me because he stopped that, but I don’t know where he got the gory details. I just kind of rambled and was ready to drown.” Nonchalantly, Trixie shrugged. She couldn’t really recall half the shit she said that night to either Ophelia or Jamie. She was drunk. “Well, damn, you really shot yourself in the foot on that one, huh? Whatever. It’s not like Hailey cares anymore, so however you me and Owen react is the only thing.” Ophelia said, shrugging her shoulders. “I don’t know if you understand, but Hailey is really… really infatuated with that Hana girl. I guess you’ve been kinda disconnected from Ms. Green for the past couple of days, but… It’s crazy.” “Heh.” Owen’s reaction to Jamie? Been there, saw that. “Yeah, it’s hard to really pay attention to someone else’s love life, when your own life feels like it’s falling apart. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’ve been kind of depressed until recently. Honestly, you telling me everything? Was kind of… a relief. Even if drunk me is kinda irrational as fuck. I’m happy for Hailey, though. But, part of me hopes… it fails. I know, I know I shouldn’t think like that but I kind of hate Hailey right now. And I’m not even 100 percent sure how I feel about you.” Absentmindedly, Trixie started braiding her hair. “You can feel however you want. This is just you getting closure. After this, you either talk to me, or you don’t talk to me. You can avoid me, I’m easy to avoid. I’m loud and you see me coming a mile away. 2But you, of all people, can’t avoid Hailey Green. You live in her father’s house, and she loves her father more than she loves anyone in the world. So you either move to Owen’s house and spend the rest of your time getting dicked down, or you stay here and you make it water under the bridge with Hailey. Good luck, it’s not an easy choice. Me? Me, personally? I’m gonna weather this storm, and hopefully be back to normal in like a week or something… I know Cassie is still with me, and she’s… she’s the rock. Then there’s that Kit girl. She’s cool.” Ophelia shrugged and put on a face that showed how little she cared about her reputation at this point. “I still care about you.” Trixie admitted. You can’t just get over a best friend in a day or two and she didn’t think she was capable of doing that with either Lia or Hails. They were her life for most of her high school career. “As for what I’ll do, I’ll talk to her. Not tonight. But soon. I don’t necessarily want to be at Owen’s place 24/7 until me and his mom kind of… talk things out too. Kylie isn’t very happy right now.” “Yikes. The other crazy lady in your life, huh? I’ll go with you for that one, it’s not like she’s doing anything. She just sits at home and talks to Mom on the phone.” Callouts? Maybe. But it was TRUE. “Might as well. Maybe she hates me more than she hates you, and like… what’s she gonna do? Tell my mom? My mom is letting me handle this on my own. She says ‘you can figure it out on your own Ophelia.’ ‘Course, she also says not to read Batman comics and that I should watch something other than Batman the Animated series, so what does she know?” “How did she take it, actually? Your mom, I mean. Finding out everything that happened? My mom. She surprised me… more calm than I thought she’d ever be.” Having Ophelia with her while she faced Kylie didn’t sound like a bad idea. Plus, Ophelia probably knew what Kylie liked because of her mom, who knew everything about Kylie. Could be a good weapon! “She was fine with it. Things happen at our age, she said. I shouldn’t worry about it, she said that it happens, and what’s important is what I do next. So, that night I snapped you. Because I wanted to say I’m sorry. And I am sorry. I messed up, but I don’t know how to say no to Hailey… She’s…. you know.” Ophelia shook her head and brushed it off, “doesn’t matter. Let’s head over to Kylie’s. Uncle Troy will be delighted to see me, or he’ll stab me in the face.” “O-oh. Right now?” Trixie didn’t think she’d see Kylie this very night! She was on punishment from Owen! He’d give her another punishment! Even so, it was obvious that Trixie had already forgiven Ophelia. She knew how Hailey was, and if roles were reversed and she had a silver tongue like Fifi did? She probably would’ve done the same thing. It was a dog eat dog world, after all. Yet, she also knew Hailey. No matter how much she was telling herself to hate on her cousin, which she really did right now, she knew there was merit in her actions, even if the way she went about it was wrong. Owen had anger issues, Hailey needed control and didn’t like others belittling her, Ophelia would talk her way around any situation, and Trixie? Trixie was a whirlwind of emotions. They all weren’t perfect, but the one thing they did have in common was: they needed someone, anyone, to make their lives feel a little less mundane. Why did Ophelia have the Candies? They were her family. Now, a bit torn apart. Why did Trixie feel inclined to talk to her again? To forgive her? Because she was family. Things might look dark in the moment, but her auntie Julie always told her there’s a silver lining. There’s always a silver lining. Things would get better. They must. “Uh… duh? What else are you doing? You’re just sitting here in your PJs… I can’t think of a better time to go speak to your future mother-in-law so you can live there and have her son show you the glorious pleasure of being cummed inside on a consistent basis. Come on, my car is here.” Ophelia shook her head and gestured for Trixie to follow her, headed toward the door. Lia didn’t understand Trixie’s hesitance, but attributed it to worrying about how Kylie would react. It was a fair worry, she supposed. Kylie was a bit… of a bitch, to say the least. “I’ll tank most of it for you, don’t worry so much.” Jesus. Lia was super thirsty and needed to get laid. It’s been awhile since Trixie’s heard her vulgar comments. Biting her bottom lip, Trixie considered her options. Stay here, brood, be lonely, wait on Owen. Or, go to the Lyons, get shit done, be a little less lonely, but end with a spank. Shrugging to herself, having finished her braid, the ‘naughty girl’ stood up, deliberately disobeying her boy, slipped on her shoes, keeping on her pjs, and followed behind her best friend, “Hey, I was wondering…” They walked down the stairs, “What’s it like to be a Candy?” “Sugar, spice, and everything nice…”
