His weight is proportionate for a muscle bound lad at just over 90 Kg (200 Lbs). He has dark skin, brown eyes and very short black hair. Kato’s appearance is very important to him. His unblemished skin is well taken care of. He can be a bit eccentric about staying as clean as he can. Kato is the sort to not allow one strand of hair out of place. His starched and polished uniform and body armor are always in perfect condition. His squad sergeant is challenged to find a spec of dirt on his armor and uniform. Equipment: Stormtrooper armor T-21 light repeating blaster SE-14r light repeating blaster Thermal detonators Psychological Analysis: Kato is a quiet man who prefers not to speak unless spoken to. He is one hundred percent committed to the Empire, willing to lay down his life for the Empire; or more specifically his brothers in the Battalion. Kato’s superiors would quantify Trooper Okoye as reliable and dependable. When the chips are down, he is there laying down a heavy accurate base of fire or assaulting headlong into an enemy position. He can be very meticulous insuring his equipment is well maintained and clean. He takes pride in his appearance wearing the whitest stormtrooper armor in the Battalion. When it comes to making decisions, Kato can be either indecisive if he does not care or does not know. He is also very picky or finicky about the things he does like. If things aren’t to his specifications he may complain, mope or mumble about how crappy conditions are. One of the few times he will speak up, is when he has a gripe about a miserable condition the squad is forced to endure. Kato can be boastful especially if he is intoxicated. Liquor will loosen his lips., albeit he is a happy drunk. He knows he is the best soldier in the battalion and might be willing to share this truth with anyone willing to listen. However, Kato will not initiate the conversation. The trooper from Haruun Kal will lie, cheat or steal his way out of a bad situation just to not get in trouble. He can be dishonest if he believes he can get away with the lie. He won’t tell a lie just to tell a lie. If there is no harm in telling the truth, then he will. If it is just a bad situation where he believes he will be punished for his actions, he will try to pass the blame onto someone else or make up a story to spare himself from any blame. Backstory: Kato Okoye grew up on Haruun Kal the third son of a farming family. The village he grew up in consisted completely of farmers. He and his brothers worked the family farm in the morning and whenever their father demanded they perform duties. When they had time off, they played games running through the fields and forests pretending at whatever desire they wished. Kato enjoyed an enhanced athleticism the other boys could only dream of. He excelled at sports and even outperformed them at work. He knew he was better and found himself boasting about it with pride. He was confident about everything he did. His father was unsettled by Kato’s arrogance, trying to temper him, but the father simply lacked the energy or time to make significant gains leaving that trait to the Empire to curb. When he enlisted, Kato was thrilled at the chance to better himself as a soldier and to experience adventure the stormtroopers had to offer. He knew he would excel as a trooper and would one day lead a company of assault troops when the opportunity presented it. He considered himself a natural born leader. During his indoctrination training (Basic Combat Training), Kato quickly learned that if you volunteered for something or were overly eager about getting into an unknown training event, it could lead to trouble. He learned to remain silent and stay in the rear to watch. When questioned about mishaps. He took the position of, it is better to deny than admit anything. He would not be a scapegoat and would pass the blame off onto the others whenever possible. He did not want to be the one blamed for every mishap. One more thing, it is better to beg forgiveness than to ask permission. As a soldier, he was always at the top of his class in physical endeavors. He excelled at the Physical Fitness Tests and achieved the highest scores on the obstacle courses. He qualified expert with E11 Blaster Rifle, T-21 light repeating blaster (LRB) and the SE-14r light repeating blaster. Shooting was another activity the naturally competitive Kato Okoye excelled at. Academically, Kato struggled, but he would never talk about those pursuits. They were not as important. In his opinion being able to sustain the fight and engage targets were critical tasks. During an engagement on some irrelevant planet. Kato had his helmet shot off his head. It knocked him back on the ground; the helmet destroyed, but he was otherwise unharmed. Once he shook off the effects of the blast, he slowly gathered himself and re-engaged targets with his LRB. He held the trigger down for five to nine round bursts as he typically did. The other LRB gunner in the squad was set up about 50 to 60 meters to his left. They would alternate bursts at their objective keeping it suppressed. It was as though the two Light Repeating Blasters were talking to one another. Although Kato is aware of the dangers of his occupation, he is not worried. He believes the Empire has trained him and brothers extremely well. The soldiers of the 121st Assault Battalion are an elite organization ready to take on all opposition throughout the known galaxy. She does not appear to be a loving woman like his mother back on Haruun Kal, but a scheming and conniving back stabber that one must keep their eye on. Her position aboard ship places her several echelons above Trooper Okoye and contact would be minimal or non-existent at all. Fortunately, Kato is a disciplined soldier and will do what she says, wishing only to be as far away from her as possible. She appears to him as someone who may just get the rest of us killed. Sergeant Kavis Vytuia (KV-4217): “Swoop” [1.9 meters = 75” or 6’ 3”] Kato viewed Sergeant Vytuis with admiring respect. He would try hard to do whatever the man asked of him. Besides, he was so huge, he would probably crush him if he tried. Trooper Okoye doesn’t know much about the Sergeant, but knows not to cross him. He appears to be confident and knowledgeable with small unit operations and motivating his young troopers. Corporal Aysié Tapalo (AL-93): “Theed” [1.73 meters = 68” or 5’8”] Kato views Theed as one of his better friends. He will accompany her on her gambling expeditions and has had to pull her out of a few scrapes. He would lay his life down for her majesty if necessary. It is a running joke with Kato to refer to Aysei Tapalo as Her majesty as though she were the actual Queen of Naboo. Trooper Callus Orson (SN-7739): “Fixer” [1.88 meters = 74” or 6’ 2”] at only 170 Lbs, Trooper Orson is quite slender. With his muscular framework, he is more scrawny than brawny. His bubbly and evervescent personality does make for a brighter working environment and the young dark skinned kid from Haruun Kal does consider him a friend. He knows Callus likes to fix things and willingly calls him Fixer or Doctor Fix it from time to time. Trooper Bradlev Trawin (TK-2323): “Rainstorm” [1.83 meters = 72” or 6’] Bradlev is his brothers as the two Light Repeating Blaster (LRB) gunners in First Squad. Kato has a friendly competition with Trooper Trawin over who is a better shot with the T-21. Often times Kato refers to him as “Rainman” or “Rainy” rather than Rainstorm or Storm. They have been in some sticky situations together and he trusts the Rainman will have his back. They have worked on their fire rates. Typically, the two LRB gunners are positioned at opposite ends of their ten-man squad. The two gunners will alternate so that when Rainstorm is firing, Knockout is not. When Kato is firing Bradlev is not. They fire five to nine round busts, stop, the other fires and stops, and then the first shooter resumes firing. It helps to conserve ammunition energy and maintains a high rate of firepower on enemy positions. This was a technique taught to them by their squad leader, Sergeant Vytuia. Trooper Malik Skaya (KY-9914): “Patches” [1.83 meters = 72” or 6’] Kato is impressed by his size, even though both are of the same height. He does not know the Aquellan warrior as well as the other members of the squad, but is willing to accept him. The two just have not yet spoken as he only recently arrived aboard The Tempest and the men of B Co. 121st Assault Battalion. Trooper Tyroch Trank (MV-1247): “Indigo” Kato is wary of Tyroch only because of his past. The Mandalorian is physically fit like everyone else in the squad, but has a history of spice use which does not sit well with the darkest member of First Squad, First Platoon B Company. Trooper Corros Meeran (LR-3080): “Tremor” [1.78 meters = 70” or 5’ 10”] Corros is the youngest member of First Squad at age 19. Tremor has become a friend to Kato. The squad is a tight knit team of professionals. Kato’s only complaint about Tremor is his lack of maintenance to his body armor. He has attempted to show the young man from Lothal how to clean his armor, but it has been wasted words.
