Much like other areas of Northeastern America, the city has everything everyone else leaves to find: culture, prestige universities, impassioned sport teams. And opportunity. Boston natives are known to be gruff and direct, and Dani only contributes to that image. Dani is mixed Caucasian and Chinese from her mother's side. Her mother immigrated to Boston from Hong Kong at the age of sixteen and stayed after graduating to pursue a degree in Architecture. She met her husband at an event where he was networking to companies in an attempt to begin his occupation as an investment advisor. Only once the two decided they both had progressed in their careers far enough did they decide to start a family. They only wanted one child. The daughter they got couldn't have been a more accurate mix of their personalities. Dani's father was a simple man who worked, went home to his family after, and relaxed with his close friends at the bar a couple times a month. Dani's mother was the stricter and more pragmatic parent. Things that were impractical were remedied efficiently with logic and action. And Dani would never have to feel the sting of that since she embodied this mentality herself. Thankfully there were others of similar dispositions or accustomed to the unromantic personality throughout her life that she got to forge bonds with. Look, life is busy and there's too much to do to waste time on being hung up on fantastical ideas. There were things to learn and then do, market data to analyze, friends to hang out with, and new strings to be made. Dani had never cared much for the idea of finding one's soulmate even when the technology made it possible to reach them. From the beginning, it sounded like a hoax and a scam. To clarify, she meant all of it. Fate and the universe had nothing better to do than to match everyone in the world up so they could feel illogically invincible? Dani believed the mind was a powerful thing and could deny to itself that it was the sole culprit responsible for its belief in soulmates. People were going to experience whatever they wanted to experience if they willed it hard enough. Dani would pass.
[sub]
strings
[/sub]
⎯⎯⎯⎯[s]𝓘𝓭𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓽𝔂 𝓤𝓷𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀𝓷[/s]⎯⎯⎯⎯ [sup]Regardless of who they are, Dani doesn't care to pay them much mind.[/sup] ⎯⎯⎯⎯[s]𝓙𝓪𝓲𝓶𝓮 𝓜𝓾𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓮𝓻[/s]⎯⎯⎯⎯ [sup]Dani met Jaime through a business meeting between their companies. Despite the green thread connecting the two, Dani has come to genuinely appreciate the bubbly girl's personality and friendship. Dani is the voice of reason that brings Jaime back to earth when her head is too up in the clouds, and Jaime can recognize Dani's best interest past the tactless words. Both being in their mid-twenties, they get together fairly often to drink and catch up with their other friends.[/sup] ⎯⎯⎯⎯[s]𝓘𝓭𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓽𝔂 𝓤𝓷𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀𝓷[/s]⎯⎯⎯⎯ [sup]Character's thoughts on this person here.[/sup] ⎯⎯⎯⎯[s]𝓘𝓭𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓽𝔂 𝓤𝓷𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀𝓷[/s]⎯⎯⎯⎯ [sup]Character's thoughts on this person here.[/sup] ⎯⎯⎯⎯[s]𝓘𝓭𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓽𝔂 𝓤𝓷𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀𝓷[/s]⎯⎯⎯⎯ [sup]Character's thoughts on this person here.[/sup] ⎯⎯⎯⎯[s]𝓘𝓭𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓽𝔂 𝓤𝓷𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀𝓷[/s]⎯⎯⎯⎯ [sup]Character's thoughts on this person here.[/sup]
[sub]
other information
[/sub]
dialogue color: 8F66C2 faceclaim: Kristin Kreuk theme song: N/A

twenty-two ● female ● bisexual
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

[sub]
summary
[/sub]
A sweet, old soul.
[sub]
brief history
[/sub]
There is no doubt that Vanessa came from a happy household. Gordon Quinn was a banker making a decent salary when he met Stacey Lane, a starting paralegal. They were instantly compatible due to both being kindhearted, traditional people; soulmates. Naturally, seeing one's parents love each other with only the purest of passions would spurn a child's lifelong desire to find the person on the other side of their red string. There wasn't a lot of concerns of the social environment negatively affecting Vanessa while she was growing up. The small family of three lived in a moderately sized city where old values were still heavily influential on the residents. Having a very lighthearted childhood, Vanessa got along with enough children and invited to enough birthday parties. Still, she was always seen past, never really having a title or making any sort of strong impression all through her schooling years. By the time she hit high school, it was established she was the nice, quiet girl who did well in classes and wasn't picked on because she was so nonexistent. Vanessa places a lot of importance and value on finding her soulmate like many others. She isn't unhappy with what she has in life, but sometimes it feels like they are no colors on her fingers with how formal her relationships are. She believes the red string will be the one that hits both her and the One hard, and they'll both feel deeply and strongly for each other. Finally, she'll be seen and important in someone's life. Perhaps Vanessa has always struggled with creating bonds with others her age because of her old soul. Embodying the stereotype of a sweet grandma ⎯⎯ down to the random distribution of homemade cookies ⎯⎯ she cares for others in a motherly way and is as meek as a mouse. She ended up moving to Boston to attend college and recently just graduated with an English major. While she's been applying for career positions, the job market is extremely competitive, and she's only been able to take on a temporary job at a coffee shop to pay rent for a small studio apartment. Having to actually interact with the city now, Vanessa isn't too sure how well she'd fit in tough Boston and has recently been considering moving back to her hometown.
[sub]
strings
[/sub]
⎯⎯⎯⎯[s]𝓘𝓭𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓽𝔂 𝓤𝓷𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀𝓷[/s]⎯⎯⎯⎯ [sup]Character's thoughts on this person here.[/sup] ⎯⎯⎯⎯[s]𝓐𝓷𝓽𝓸𝓷 𝓛𝓵𝓮𝔀𝓮𝓵𝓵𝔂𝓷[/s]⎯⎯⎯⎯ [sup]The first time Anton and Vanessa met was on the first day of his class on a new semester. Once he was close enough in vicinity, Vanessa noticed a color emitting from her finger. Her first string! It lead out the door and she was both nervous and excited of who could be her fated friend. For the next five minutes, she would perk up at whomever entered, curious if they were her friend. As more and more students sat in other seats instead of the one next to her and her string wasn't moving, she became disheartened that they might not be in the same class and she would miss her chance to meet them. Then a man entered and took his place at the front of the room and her green string followed him. He made eye contact with her for a moment, and she became overwhelmed by the surprising development and the uncertainty of how to approach it. Throughout that first class she was distracted and was too nervous to approach the topic with Anton until a week passed. Now the man addresses her by an endearing 'Nessie' and they keep in touch with frequent coffee dates. Although both are passionate about finding their soulmate, Vanessa is glad that they also can talk about a variety of shared interests, mainly literature. While classified as a friend, Nessie also sees Anton as a mentor of sorts, and his understanding and kind nature helps to ease her uncertain and meek nature.[/sup] ⎯⎯⎯⎯[s]𝓢𝓪𝓫𝓻𝓲𝓷𝓪 𝓥𝓸𝓷 𝓢𝓮𝔂𝓶𝓸𝓾𝓻[/s]⎯⎯⎯⎯ [sup]It was a busy day at the coffee shop Vanessa worked at when Sabrina entered. Usually, Vanessa would have noticed the second green string to appear on her fingers immediately, but with the constant movement of her hands, she just thought it was the one she had already discovered. It wasn't until she was delivering the coffee to Sabrina and accidentally spilling it on the other's papers in her haste that she realized the two were connected. Looking back on it now that the two are friends, Vanessa theorizes that it was only because of this realization from both parties that stopped Sabrina from getting furious with her. (Of course, she still profusely apologized and cleaned the mess.) Still, that boldness is something Vanessa admires from Sabrina and appreciates her advice and encouragement whenever she's doubting herself.[/sup] ⎯⎯⎯⎯[s]𝓩𝓸𝓮𝔂 𝓢𝓸𝓭𝓪[/s]⎯⎯⎯⎯ [sup]The two girls have only met once in a class they had together in college. Vanessa always thought that she would become uncharacteristically hostile with whomever her rival was, if she ever had one, the moment they'd meet and they'd just understand this tension between them. But there was only confusion. Vanessa didn't feel any of that ⎯⎯ if anything she might have had the tiniest crush on the very attractive girl ⎯⎯ toward Zoey. She hypothesized it'd have something to do with how well they did in their class, but after sharing their grades on a test they got back, neither felt any sense of competition. To do this day, neither knows the reason nor think about the orange string much. No point in trying to create negative feelings if unnecessary.[/sup] ⎯⎯⎯⎯[s]𝓘𝓭𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓽𝔂 𝓤𝓷𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀𝓷[/s]⎯⎯⎯⎯ [sup]Character's thoughts on this person here.[/sup] ⎯⎯⎯⎯[s]𝓘𝓭𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓽𝔂 𝓤𝓷𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀𝓷[/s]⎯⎯⎯⎯ [sup]Character's thoughts on this person here.[/sup]
[sub]
other information
[/sub]
dialogue color: b79fe7 faceclaim: Summer Glau theme song: N/A
