Growing up in New York, New York the future makeup guru would learn a harsh lesson from the streets. Her family owned a corner store in a more Latina based block outside of Buschwick - her family was known around there for providing the surrounding area with immediate amenities. Once Gabriella became old enough she'd find herself spending hours at the family store while her parents took up some other kind of job to help keep the family going. As the years went on, life seemed to get a bit tougher. The shop found itself victim to a few driveby shootings, none targeting the shop but just happened to be the background of the unfortunate events. Living above the store really did no better justice to these late night happenings. Aside from the jarring sounds of a gunshots going off whilst you're dead asleep, many more happenings around the blocks would cause Gabriella to constantly daydream. She wondered what life would be like when she was old enough to leave, and you can bet she was gonna make that happen. For whatever reason, after discovering her mothers fire-red lipstick, Gabriella found herself drawn to makeup. Fashion came next, but really anything that hugged her body was good enough for her. Makeup though was really where her heart landed, she'd buy as many lipsticks as she could with what paychecks she got. No brand was safe, she delved into everyone trying to find the perfect shade, the next best face primer, the most vibrant eyeshadow. Her mother and father disapproved of course, at 14 she was looking a far bit more grown up than she needed to. So she was condemned to not wear it till she was out from under their roof. This only drove the girl to really evacuate the area. Around 21, Gabriella ended up falling in love with a lawyer and moving towards the upper end of New York. He was rich, sweet, and was in love with the sight of the girl. Gabriella was at first oblivious to the blatant disrespect he would give her at times in front of his colleagues, but it all went past her pretty little head as she now melted into the upper class society. Three years after living with him he proposed, another three years later - his true colors began to come out. Though he would usually make snarky comments to her while he was drunk, they became more frequent and hurtful. From insults to her intelligence, to eventually low blows at her family. Which is where this would begin to take a toll on her and her feelings towards the man. Her family was everything to her, they worked hard and made it possible for her to grow up. But he was also making it possible for her to live the life she wanted. Gabriella had no idea what to do. She was able to find a job, but it was as a manager in a higher end retail clothing outlet that her fiance found her a job in. Slowly over a few months she began to save every penny she could, and collecting all the jewelry she could pawn in the future. At last the day came, well night rather, where she took her chance and disappeared. Boston was a good enough distance away, and would become her new home. All alone at the age of 27, Gabriella had to start her way from the ground up. Her biggest struggle was finding a place to live at first - moving from hotel to hotel till finally she found herself a loft inside the city. Her luck peeked as right before she found her new home, she found a job inside a Sephora as a makeup consult. Compared to all the other women who had gone to beauty school, her knowledge on many things was slightly lacking but her technique was rather flawless. She was hired on the spot, which meant things would look up for her there. For now she resides in the city, living this 'new' life for the past 4 years. She hasn't heard from her ex, and is now at ease with the idea that he has not a care for her in the world. Ella is concerned with moving up in the makeup world and perhaps opening her own line someday, it would be based on the colors and accents from her childhood. Another dream of hers she would make a reality, one day.
[sub]
strings
[/sub]
⎯⎯⎯⎯[s]𝓘𝓭𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓽𝔂 𝓤𝓷𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀𝓷[/s]⎯⎯⎯⎯ [sup]Character's thoughts on this person here.[/sup] ⎯⎯⎯⎯[s]𝓘𝓭𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓽𝔂 𝓤𝓷𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀𝓷[/s]⎯⎯⎯⎯ [sup]Character's thoughts on this person here.[/sup] ⎯⎯⎯⎯[s]𝓘𝓭𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓽𝔂 𝓤𝓷𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀𝓷[/s]⎯⎯⎯⎯ [sup]Character's thoughts on this person here.[/sup] ⎯⎯⎯⎯[s]𝓘𝓭𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓽𝔂 𝓤𝓷𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀𝓷[/s]⎯⎯⎯⎯ [sup]Character's thoughts on this person here.[/sup] ⎯⎯⎯⎯[s]𝓘𝓭𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓽𝔂 𝓤𝓷𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀𝓷[/s]⎯⎯⎯⎯ [sup]Character's thoughts on this person here.[/sup] ⎯⎯⎯⎯[s]𝓘𝓭𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓽𝔂 𝓤𝓷𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀𝓷[/s]⎯⎯⎯⎯ [sub]
other information
[/sub]
dialogue colour: palevioletred faceclaim: Diane Guerrero theme song: Glamorous

▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

28 ● femme ● hetero
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

[sub]
summary
[/sub]
Raise hell, praise Dale. Raised by her Poppa Dukes so 'Tomboy' is the perfect descriptor for this fine motorcycle ridin' specimen.
[sub]
brief history
[/sub]
Riley was the only child of her family, and her family consisted of her, her father, and her fathers parents. Her mother had run off sometime ago to fulfil her dream of fucking every guy in the nearby trailer parks for any kind of dope she could score. A relationship with her was but a figment of her imagination. Seeing her unfortunately was not, she'd show up occasionally to her memaw and pepaw's house - singing her redemption song. But of course as fate would have it she was only coming back to steal a few things and pawn it off to get herself more dope. Eventually Jackson, her father, cut these visits off entirely to spare Riley any further heartbreak in the future. The moment she was born in the mountains of North Carolina, Riley only knew the love and warm hugs of her father and grandparents. They did everything in their power to protect her from the sad sight that was her mother. She was given everything she ever needed and wanted, and was always given the proper amount of attention. Jackson owned his own autobody shop only a few miles down the road from his parents house. When she was younger Riley got the choice of either coming to work, or hanging out with Memaw and Papaw, usually she chose to go with her father. Getting under all the cars, and turning the wrenches for him, watching the cool cars come in really caught her attention. But what made the girl stop in her tracks? Motorcycles. She loved the way people looked when they rode in on them, their sound. Really everything. When she was younger, she could never quite put her finger on it. But now of age, she can confidently say it was the freedom she saw expressed by those that rode the mechanical steeds. She knew one day instead of sitting passenger that she'd be the one driving. Well, years passed by and many seasons came and went. On her 18th birthday, promising her father she would graduate, Riley received her first motorcycle. It was the shell of a rather old school Harley Bobber. It'd be her first project upon entering her Dad's shop as a mechanic, just so long as she promised now...to do work and then work on the bike in her free time. Of course she was more than obliged to do so, and couldn't even believe she was a mechanic at her fathers shop. Most of her classmates went off to do things such as become doctors, actors/actress', and lord knows what else. Riley decided to become a mechanic. Many of her teachers urged her to do something else, many using sayings such as "Well that pretty face can get you anywhere you want". To which she'd retort "I don't want any of those things than to own a bike and ride across America. That's what I want". So nothing and no one came in the way of these dreams, which she finally achieved at the ripe age of 18. It didn't take her very to long to fix the bike, but as everything in her life was shining gold, fate would have it and her Memaw fell ill. Putting a halt on everything in her life. For years her Memaw would battle lung cancer, they all urged her to stop smoking years ago but she old bat was so stubborn. "I'm on the road to heaven anyways! I'll do what I please!" Her father always insisted Riley got her attitude from her Memaw, and not the older she became the more she was able to see it. Memaw put up the good fight for years to come, and Riley could either be found at work or home with her Grandparents cooking and cleaning for them. Her Pepaw was a man that couldn't be deterred and was usually found outside making the gardens look however Memaw wanted, he loved her so much he'd do anything that woman asked. They waited on her hand and foot until one morning in the winter, Memaw didn't wake up from going to bed the night before. This was when Riley was 24 and her world was shook for years to come after that. The gardens were still tended too, and life moved on rightfully so after her passing. But there was one less place at the dinner table that was filled with her delicious cooking. Thankfully she had taught Riley many of the family recipes so she was able to cook all the family goodies for holidays, but it wasn't the same with out her croaking at Pepaw to slow down on the beers at dinner, or berate Jackson with questions about why he wouldn't remarry. It seemed to become a bit more silent in the household, but the love and support only grew from there. Finally four years later, Riley felt that her home life was a bit more stable these days. Her Grandfather was in good health, and her fathers Autobody shop was doing more business than ever. He had so many hired hands now, including Pepaw who worked the counter, that she felt comfortable enough to take her trip across and around the US. Packing her things, and having her last breakfast with her family. Riley headed out on the open road on her first bike that her father gave to her, it was the only one that felt right to travel in. A backpack full of necessities, bike stocked and ready to go. Riley, now Scout, set out on the open road heading up North to New York for her first stop. Taking her time and stopping off wherever she pleased, Scout felt no place too uninteresting to discover. Once arriving to New York she left rather quickly. Wasn't entirely her scene. Deciding she was close enough up North, she felt the need to go a bit further East and landed on Boston as a stopping point for Maine. Once arriving in Boston, her bike decided to shit out so now she's stranded for a bit living it up in an air bnb she's renting out weekly. Only planning to stay until her bike is fixed...that is unless something else keeps her there.
