If one of them had to die to stop this evil, one of them was going to die. It all just settled down to who it will require to do it. She was still happy though. Maybe she would do well to send that manuscript of her book to her publisher to have if proofread and set to printing now. After all she wasn't sure how much she'd live at the end of the day.
