[sup][sub]You may run for a longtime[/sub][/sup] It didn’t take long either. It turns out the average lifetime of society as it existed before the change is about six months. People thought things would be back to normal before long, but that wasn’t the case. The disease spread across the world in a matter of weeks, and despite attempts from the world governments to get it under control… people were over ran simply by numbers. Two thousand zombies beats a hundred National Guardsman any day — and most places didn’t even have that many soldiers who stuck around. With the world going to shit around them, who could blame them? Anyone would rather be with their family than standing watch. [sup][sub]My god spoke, and he spoke so sweet, thought I heard the shuffle of the angel’s feet[/sub][/sup] Some people ran to the safe zones, as the government told them they’d be. The major cities. Your New Yorks, your Miamis, Anaheims, Londons, Barcelonas… you get the picture. Fact is? Those people were fools. The more people, the quicker it spread. People were changing. A simple bite, even a scratch… it seemed to work. No one is sure how it works, but the end result is the same. Shambling monsters who seemed single mindedly focused on one goal: eating people. Zombies, the dreamland of that awkward kid from middle school — he and his gamer buddies are probably doing just fine. And the walking dead are just the tip of the iceberg. [sup][sub]Working in the dark against your fellow man, what you do in the dark, as sure as god made the day and night, what you do in the dark will be brought to the light[/sub][/sup] The smart people turned out to be those who stayed home. Fortified their small towns, and hoped for the best. While everyone ran for the hills and the protective arms of the government, a few stayed behind. They had what they had at their houses, and in some places, even a mom and pop grocery store. Life carried on for those who were brave enough to stay. Until two months in. That was when they realized it wasn’t getting better, and, more importantly? That was when the power went out. It never came back on. It probably never will. [sup][sub]One of these days, you can mark my words, and you will knock up on that door, that’s all son, you’ll knock no more[/sub][/sup] Once that happened, it sort of spiraled out of control. People got desperate, and desperate people do crazy things. It wasn’t long before the little cities were looted and abandoned too. The leviathan of chaos fell upon the world, and it wasn’t long before people ran away. They formed roving bands, and hoped for the best — hoped to find some place they could hole up against the apocalypse forming against them. [sup][sub]Sooner or later, God’s gonna strike you down[/sub][/sup] It won’t last. This is going to be a post-apocalyptic roleplay, taking place roughly six months after a worldwide pandemic begins to wipe out humanity. No one is sure what to attribute the disease to. Certain religious types feel that the simple fact of the matter is hell has filled up, and now it’s spilling out onto our world. Regardless of one's personal belief, it is clear that the majority of the world's population have died and turned into the walking dead. You're bitten or scratched by one of these zombies? You turn. And as our survivors will find out soon, the undead hordes are only the tip of the iceberg, and that some of those infected turned into even stranger supernatural creatures. We’ll be playing a group of characters who form a nomadic band to better survive the horrors of the world, scavenging and hunting in the remnants of Minnesota. Eventually, your characters will hopefully stumble upon a place to set up shop and begin to rebuild their lives, as best they can in the chaos that followed the outbreak. This RP will be story driven and mostly serious. As such, we want the threat of character death to be a real and present danger you face throughout the story. You’ll be facing not only the monsters of the new world, but also environmental threats like weather conditions, as it gets closer to the colder months; food and water supplies; and, of course, the threat of your fellow humans. In the beginning, the characters will have been traveling together for around two weeks –– strength in numbers and all that –– and will be approaching the first great roadblock to their continued existence: finding a base.

The character sheet is intentionally short so that players can make multiple characters. Players with 3+ characters can designate one of theirs to have IMMUNITY. They won't die as a result of the GMs advancing the plot, whereas other characters are constantly at risk if they make an ill-thought decision or rush headfirst into the action. Players who do choose to kill off a character (after they have completed at least one short-term goal and posted several times for them) get GOOD KARMA: one of their other characters may run into a spot of good luck and help either themselves or the group with new supplies and equipment. If loot isn't your thing, special help to advance their personal storylines or long-term goals is also available. Seriously, hang out in the discord, be a member of the lil community. Be cool to each other, that’s all we want.

Don’t mistake IC drama for OOC drama. That is to say, characters will probably be just terrible, awful people in this RP. Don’t take it personally.

That’s really it, we’re pretty relaxed people.
