Crunch entered the office. [b][color=00ddaa]”Alright, this shouldn't take too long.”[/color][/b] She pulled out a chair and sat in it, folding one leg over the other. [b][color=00ddaa]”I'm Captain Crunch. I oversee a fair portion of the king's naval fleet and am currently stationed here to make sure the waters remain bandit free.”[/color][/b] She folded her arms. [b][color=00ddaa]”Aer, Wisp, and Aki told me a little bit about what was going on, but I'd like to hear it from you now.”[/color][/b]

Ashton nodded. “Basically, we come from a far away kingdom, one in unknown lands, which depends on Science and mastery of the physical aspects of this world instead of Magic. This far away kingdom is called ‘Earth’. I and my partner, Flame, lived in one of the cities there, with an ordinary life provided for by, well, Science.

“One day, Flame and I were going for a walk, when all of a sudden, we were enveloped by a sudden darkness, in which there was a figure known only as L.T.” Ashton shuddered in fear as he mentioned the initials.

“L.T. said something about taking us to meet with someone who ‘loves’ us, someone who yearns for our love, and asked us if we thought we’re worth anything to each other. We answered in the affirmative, and we were shrouded in Darkness.”

A pause. “Then, we were in Priestella, a city utterly strange to us.”

Crunch raised an eyebrow. [b][color=00ddaa]”This L.T. person, how did you come to know them as such?”[/color][/b]

Ashton tried to give as sincere an answer as he could, “That was how he introduced himself to us.”

Technically the truth.

Crunch continued to stare at Ashton in silence, eyebrow raised the entire time. Eventually she stood up and walked around to Ashton's side of the table. The captain leaned over him, placing a hand on the table to support herself. She sniffed a fer timed before rolling her eyes down towards the boy. [b][color=00ddaa]”Ashton, was it?”[/color][/b] She flicked both of her eyebrows up in the air. [b][color=00ddaa]”You're not afraid of me, are you?”[/color][/b]

Ashton mused on the question before saying, “Not of you, Ms. Crunch, but I suspect that LT’s name is… Cursed. To be honest, if you’re familiar with the term [i]geas[/i] - something we on Earth once thought was superstition - that may have been placed upon us.”

The boy knew that this was destroying their chances of being given complete freedom, but being caught in a lie was worse.

Crunch stroked her chin. [b][color=00ddaa]”Is that so??”[/color][/b] She turned around and walked towards the door. [b][color=00ddaa]”We're done for now, you'll have to sit tight for a bit.”[/color][/b] As soon as she stepped out, the guard moved in front of the door and shut it.

[b][color=00ddaa]”I’ve heard a few things, but I'd like to hear it from you now.”[/color][/b]

Flame tried to swallow any urge to be snarky as he said, “Well, we came from another land, another kingdom, one where Magic is prohibitively rare - what that Aer lady called ‘Metia’ actually works through science and manipulation of the physical laws of the world; believe it or not. In this kingdom, life has its own problems, but my… Ties with Ashton aren’t one of them.”

A purse of his lips. “Then it was all ended, all ended by this strange darkness. In said darkness was a figure named ‘L.T.’,” He remembered Ashton using those initials, “And L.T. spoke bullshit about taking us out of our land to someone who ‘loved’ us.”

His frown deepened, “So he did, and quite frankly, despite putting up a brave face over this, the both of us are miserable.”

[b][color=00ddaa]”Yes, that was more or less what he said, but his word choice was a bit different.”[/color][/b] Crunch rested her arms on the table. [b][color=00ddaa]”Did you know any of the others prior to coming here?”[/color][/b]

Flame shook his head. “Only Ashton. Trust me, it would have been easier for the both of us if we knew each other beforehand.”

Crunch stood up and strode over to flame. [b][color=00ddaa]”That's certainly how it seems.”[/color][/b] Once she was standing over Flame, she sniffed the air. [b][color=00ddaa]”Interesting...”[/color][/b] She continued to walk around the table until she left the other side. [b][color=00ddaa]”The interrogations are almost over. Just sit tight a bit longer.”[/color][/b] she said before leaving the room.

Flame nodded and waited for what came next, already suspecting that Crunch had ‘found out’ a reason she can use to have them all killed like last time.
