She fit in well with her job, despite the eccentric clothes and she even had a small group of friends now. They would spend their Friday evenings going to indie films before going to this little coffee shop beside the art studio they all worked at. An added bonus was the safety she felt in New York. Perhaps a bit strange for when she first arrived her intuition was all over the place. There were so many rotten people in the big city, so many like minded people who only wanted one thing but with the months and months of being here, she had learned to tune it out. That false sense of security is what landed her here. She didn’t notice the three men following her home from work, she didn’t sense that their intention was to take her, to bind her and beat her when she struggled. She bit into the hand of one when he injected her with something but then everything seemed to fade out and when she awoke, she felt nothing. No sirens going off in her head, no illusions to conjure. It almost physically hurt for her to try. Annie did her best to descend the stairs, walking sideways because it hurt to walk straight down. The facility was huge, much bigger than she would have imagined and she wasn’t even sure this was the only one. She was flanked by two big men, with twenty some scattered around making various rounds. There would be no escaping, especially after her powers seemed to have been taken. After years of running, her time finally ran out. She only hoped that her father wouldn’t suffer the same fate that she was. Antoinette looked over at her guards, they didn’t say much as they led her further down the stairs. ”What is your recruiting process like?” she asked randomly. ”Do you have people of special talent working for you as well?” Annie was very much the observer but there was only so much you could see without needing to talk.
