Hugely excited here. This looks like a well-developed, thought out roleplay. If you don't mind, I'd like to get ahead of the game and post my character sheet.
Name: Rhorak "Rak" of the Queim family Species: Shadowborn. Like many on his home world, he has the innate ability to control shadows within 25 feet of him, and to even become one of the shadows. It is extremely difficult for the shadows to leave the ground they lay on, though due to his illness not only can he manifest and move the shadows off the ground, he has control of them from up to 100 feet. Shadowborn look humanoid, however you see them clearer in the darkness. Small tendrils of darkness seem to writhe from them in total darkness, creating a horror-like look to them. Most iconic of them, their 'human' bodies seem invulnerable. The bodies could be stabbed, burned, vaporized, anything. Although they feel the pain of the bodies, the shadowborn's natural form are the shadows themselves. Injury to their representation mean nothing to them, since they endure pain well. However, if the shadow of the body is attacked, usually with weapons that give off light (Fire, electricity, the sort), they can and will be severely incapacitated, and their natural form can't take much damage before simply dying and disappearing into nothingness. Gender: Male Age: 23 Mental Illness: Chronic Catatonic Schizophrenia with violent tendencies.. Sometimes you'll see him completely sane, next moment he won't say or do anything, or will stand in a odd position. If anybody tries to disturb him during these Chronic phases, the shadows around him will lash out violently, severely injuring the interrupter. Appearance: His dark curly hair, slim cheekbones, and his refusal to change his appearance gives him the look of someone younger, but his height of 6'3 and large stature says something completely different. His eyes are his key feature, with them practically glowing light teal, making him stand out in the dark. His dark choice of clothing and his passive look makes him a person easy to walk by and forget, yet a closer look at him would reveal an odd fact about him; light tends to be drawn away from him, as if it was scared of him. If you manage to notice him, it feels impossible to take your eyes off. His loud presence yet silent demeanor refuses to allow your eyes their freedom. To fit in with society, he has learned to hide the tendrils that are revealed in the darkness, yet when unstable they can writhe violently and clearly, even in the midst of day. He is easily disturbed, but when he is completely at peace, he gives off a whole different look. The chaotic curls of his dark hair seem to fall into a rhythm of being. His striking and piercing jawline seem to soften and look welcoming. Even the studs on his jacket seem to look lighter, almost silky. To complete the picture, a slow smile begins to grow on his face, turning even the most violent of events seem to be a light-hearted dance of blood. Even the institute knows to leave him alone when he is in this mood, since it is so rare, even to the point of stopping "treatment". History: As a child, he has always been the nice kid. As he grew up, it was clear he was a bit odd, but he still got quite along with most people. His control of the shadows seemed to be larger and more powerful, but not enough to warrant worry or fear. This life went on for a long time, until when Rhorak was 17. The political world of the Shadowborn is in shambles, so the day he saw the new president climb the ruined stairs up to present his inauguration speech, and Rhorak felt the tendrils of corruption that was emitting from the seemingly good man, he lost it. A once seemingly sane teen turning into a weapon of destruction, the president had no chance. Large knives, swords, spears, any sharp object, seemed to appear from the shadows of Rhorak, ripping apart the president's body and shadow, and injuring many nearby. He became a fugitive, but his extremely violent powers make capture impossible. Finally, after a few years, he was caught, having a casualty count of hundreds under his belt. After a series of psychiatrists attempting to diagnose him, many having the same fate of injury, it was revealed he had chronic episodes of Catatonic Schizophrenia. It was clear that if he was put in prison, or a mental hospital on their world, more would be hurt. As a result, he was admitted into the Osmond Institute at the age of 20. Personality: During his episodes, he is extremely mute and antisocial. However he is quite the opposite once they are over. He loves to socialize with the other patients, even to the point of sparking violence from the secluded and dangerous patients. He has no guilt, and will hit on even the nurses, sometimes even succeeding. Sexual Orientation: Straight Fears: Astraphobia; fear of lightning and thunder Capabilities: Able to control shadows and manifest them in a 100 feet radius. Weak-willed people can even be controlled by commanding their shadow to move in a certain way, however most people can resist it. He also has the odd ability to be able to understand who a person really is by physical contact with their shadow or tendrils (If they are Shadowborn), an ability his race doesn't share. Finally,. he can change the tendrils the emanate from him into objects of similar shapes. Obviously, all of his abilities are weakened under bright light. Miscellaneous: His "treatment" room, also where he eats and sleeps, are surrounded by large, extremely bright lights. The room is circular, fitting to his area of control, as to prevent his abilities from having effect. His nurse seems to be Shadowborn as well; she mainly leads his treatment, and uses Shadowborn abilities to do so. OOC Notes: His trigger is corruption. Although he can have an episode without contact, if he contacts a shadow of a corrupt person, he immediately goes into a violent episode. Be careful when you interact with him. Although due to his nurse always being nearby and preventing him from doing any harm very quickly, if he suddenly goes insane on you, those first two seconds where he isn't being stopped can be rather painful.
Also, I am quite a fanatic of the theoretical sciences and technology myself, so if there is question of a science that is clearly impossible (Such as freezing time with objects [Freezing time would be impossible, since if all objects weren't moving at all, the temperature would be absolute zero, freezing everything for eternity]), I will present an alternate solution to said issue (For example, freezing a person's perception of time, giving a similar effect). I love the most odd and exploitable theories, so if I present an alternate theory, it'll be something that can be expanded upon and used in so many ways. Also, if my character feels surprisingly concise and short, I plan on developing his personality, history, and general info of him as the RP goes on
