I tried to keep as much as Sofie as possible in the reply I just posted but I defied a few of Sofie's rules to make sure she accepted his hand.  I was trying to justify some part of it but in the end I think her choice was a good one.  Plus, the change in her character, in what she'd usually do is something new I'd like to explore :)
