Ryland “Ry” Astrapí

Ryland raised an eyebrow as it seemed like Kiera felt it was important to note that she wouldn't mind being taught by him. His gaze lingered for a moment before he smiled and nodded. Then looking towards the group training below. "Alright! Training's over for today, I've gotta get Ms. Kiera here some weapons. I want each of you to practice what we went over by Thursday, I will be testing you on it. Whoever does best... well I'll to Chiron about chore scheduling." He said with a slight grin, knowing they would scramble to train in order to get the easier chores around camp. Certainly, to avoid helping the kitchen harpies clean, lava was kind of a dangerous to use for cleaning to most non-magical creatures. As the others all left, he turned towards Kiera and nodded. "We don't really have a weapons master. Just kinda a shed and a general understanding don't touch it or Mr. D will turn you into a dolphin." He said with a slight laugh as he started making his way towards said weapons shed situated near the arena. Opening the unassuming wooden shed, he showed Kiera a wide range of deadly weaponry. Ranging from knives to greatswords to even a few rifles situated towards the back. "Go ahead, choose one that suits you and I'll even toss in a free lesson. No need to thank me, I know I'm so generous." He said with a small laugh while gesturing to show that he was kidding towards Kiera as he waited for her to choose her weapon of choice. Soon after, the two would be in the arena as Ryland began showing Kiera how to handle her weapons. Taking it one step at a time to show her the basics and then seeing what she could do. Over the course of the next couple of hours, the two worked out the basics, exchanged laughs, and slight flirts with each other. Though after a few hours it was time each went their separate ways, Ry going to get dinner and do some chores while Kiera was free to fill her time with whatever.
That night at the campfire, the flame was roaring nearly twenty feet high and turning a golden color due to high spirits from the summer just starting out. Various camp songs were sung to the tune of the Apollo cabin's guitar playing, all variations on the Greek myths. Ryland was late to the campfire, having fallen asleep in his cabin shortly after dinner. As he came up, the boy happened to notice that Kiera was sitting with some space near her at the campfire. Moving quickly to claim the spot, he bumped shoulders with the girl to let her know that he was there. "Fancy seeing you here." He said quickly before joining into whatever silly song was being sung at the moment. Though after a few more songs, the lyrics suddenly were cut off in the middle of a song about minotaurs. The silence overtaking the crowd at a rather rapid rate as people started to exclaim and point. All attention turned towards Kiera and Ryland. More specifically, towards the glow above Kiera's head. Ryland's eyes went wide as he noticed the change above the new camper, and what the green trident meant. Under his breath he cursed slightly, knowing the bad blood between their parents would no doubt affect them at some point. Taking a couple of steps back, before kneeling down as the rest of the camp followed suit. "Your father..." He said in a soft tone, already wondering what it meant that another child of the Big Three was showing up so soon. Before he could say much more, a wiser and much older voice boomed over the crowd. Chiron, announcing the claiming more formally than the whispers among the crowd suggest. "It has been decided. Your father has claimed you, Kiera, Poseidon the Earthshaker, Stormbringer, Father of Horses. Hail, Kiera Donovan, Daughter of the Sea God." The centaur said firmly even as a wave of 'hail' was echoed out across the campers. When he rose to his feet and looked towards Kiera, Ryland gave her a look to see if she was alright with the sudden attention.
