With Quill, I am mostly just going with the flow, and have some vague ideas of where I want to take his story. 

But with Ferron, the plan is that I am just going to have a summary post at the end of the time-skip where he has set up the infrastructure for the dwarven colony to be able to function without him around, and this is going to lead into him starting to interact with the other gods and start to pull them into the project.
