May 4) Gender: Female Appearance: Five feet tall and pale to the point of almost being translucent, Yu-Ri’s countenance alternates between doll-like beauty and doll-like eeriness, her large eyes the deep gray of a cloudy afternoon. Sinewy and thin, her frame is still relatively boyish, lines rather than curves dominating her figure, while her fingers are similarly slender and small. There is something intrinsically delicate about her, as if Yu-Ri was crafted out of sugar and would break at a single careless touch, as if each strand of her glossy, black hair was intentionally sculpted. Her clothing too, is often one size larger than it needs to be, further accentuating just how small she is. But for all her fine looks, one would be hard-pressed to compare Yu-Ri to a flower. No, rather than something that blooms, perhaps it’d be apt to liken her to something that can be honed. Biography: Yu-Ri Yun came from a poor farming village in the Yuanyang county of China, and that sort of hardship early on in her life became central in molding her into what she is today. The daughter of a rice farmer, she subsisted off rice and vegetables, had her own little garden for year-round veggies, enjoyed the few days of the month where meat was available, and had a nice stroll through the rice paddies whenever her father went drinking with his friends. Her mother coached her in chores and skills, her father built up her character by having her help with every aspect of work, and she kept her head in old school textbooks when she had time, scratching out calculations or characters in the dirt. The closest school was still a good day’s drive away, and without a son to help around the house, it came to Yu-Ri to pick up the slack. All things considered, no matter what outlandish dreams she had, the young girl had no real expectations on her future, and it was only on a whim that she signed up for some charity scholarship thing that offered a couple lucky kids from low-income backgrounds the chance to study at the greatest (and only) Academy City in the world. With the chance of actually winning the scholarship akin to winning a lottery, Yu-Ri certainly didn’t expect anything to come out of it…until it did. Her parents had mixed feelings about it, but when the fancy black helicopter came and a dashing young AC alumni stepped out to present her with an extra-large check she had no way of cashing, Yu-Ri didn’t think twice before taking the offer and kissing her old, railroaded life good bye. It certainly made a good story, didn’t it? A rice farmer’s child, launched out of her agricultural misery and into the shiny lights and high-tech environment of Japan’s Academy City. Certainly made a better story than years spent trying to master a new language and making up for all the subjects her old textbooks didn’t manage to cover, all while taking Power Development sessions over and over again until she wasn’t sure who her mind even belonged to. But Yu-Ri survived, even as her story fell into obscurity, even as her funds grew incrementally smaller with every year that passed. She survived and she clung on as tightly as she could to her place in Academy City, because even the worst ‘here’ was paradise compared to ‘there’. Personality: Yu-Ri is a realist who augments her worldview with a dash of optimism and a pinch of utilitarianism. She’d certainly like to think that everyone wants to be a good person, but she also knows better than to expect that out of the average empty-headed teenager on the streets. With eyes wide open and facial expression set to ‘alert’, she doesn’t let her emotions show often, keeping everything restrained and small. A small, toying smile or a slight, disapproving frown is usually all she needs to get through her daily life, while inebriation might encourage a chuckle or two from her before she clams up and feigns sleep. Yu-Ri is far from an emotionally repressed psychopath though, and while she can’t replicated the hot-blooded or passionate outpourings that others have, it’s certainly fun to watch them try. In a comedy duo, she’d be the straight man. If she were an oni, she’d be blue. If she were a sibling, she’d be the detached eldest. And when it comes to getting things done, there’s no one more reliable than Yu-Ri. When the world calls for wet work, she answers, and she’ll only do it with the slightest show of disgust and disdain. Service with a smile is for stupid sons of sluts who support superficiality over solutions, after all. Yu-Ri prides herself in being productive and efficient and not wasting time trying to appeal to the tastes of human pigs. Esper Power: Level 2 – Random Point A low level psychic power, Random Point is a contact-based teleportation ability that allows Yu-Ri to randomly displace five liters worth of volume that she’s come in contact with. Her calculations are often faster than other Teleporters around the same Level, due to her only needing to calculate the initial shift from the third dimension to the 11th dimension, but as it stands, her utility as a Teleporter is sorely lacking. Skills: Yu-Ri is fluent in Chinese, regularly takes boxing lessons, is quite knowledgeable in ‘primitive’ agriculture, and is a pretty good shot with handguns, if her modest fame in VR Combat Sim Arcades counts towards that. Outside of that, she regularly ranks in the top 20 students academically in her school, has accumulated a rather wide amount of experience through working temporary jobs around the city, and somehow managed to get herself a driver’s license at the age she is, enabling her to drive around the city in a spiffy AI-assisted neon blue and black motorcycle. And if one really wanted to go deep, Yu-Ri is just as skilled under the sheets as she is on the streets. Ambition: Yu-Ri would love to graduate from a good university in Academy City with a useful diploma, before immediately grabbing herself an enjoyable career that offers her a six figure salary to start with. Failing that, she’d like to score herself a spot on Academy City’s Board of Directors as well, or sharpen her Esper Power to the extent of becoming a Level 5. Overall, it would be absolutely wonderful if Yu-Ri could make herself indispensable and irreplaceable to the world at large, and to that end, she certainly would like to gather as much ‘value’ unto herself as possible. Extra:

Yu-Ri’s contact list is filled with older men, from high schoolers to Anti-Skill members.
Her favorite type of food is the type she can eat on the go. Of note, Lawson’s nikuman are wonderful.
Though she has a larger network of acquaintances and friends than others, she doesn’t have anyone she considers to be a close friend.
She prefers the heft and leather of bulky headphones over earbuds or slimmer headphones.
Her theme is R.
