I can't believe I'm doing this. What the hell has gotten into me? That kick to the head earlier has got me acting insane. All these thoughts and more ran through my head as I continued to run back to that horrible hotel. I will absolutely regret this. So, why am I not stopping? Why am I not turning the fuck around? Even with this mental war going on inside my head, I still kept running and running till finally, I entered the hotel via jumping through a kitchen window. I rolled on the ground and thankfully didn't get cut on any of the glass shards. As soon as I stood up, I immediately ran out of the kitchen and into the next room which was the grand foyer. It appeared to be empty. Not a Shield agent in sight, nor any of the other misfits I was with. It was quiet too. I didn't hear any gunfire or yelling. No muffled sounds of a fight occurring on one of the upper levels. Everything seemed fine, save for the foyer looking like complete shit. Broken glass, tables on their sides, chairs (some broken) lying in random spots all over the room, and a hole in the ceiling. Looks like I missed whatever party happened in here. I was beginning to wonder if I actually was too late. Perhaps Shield had already killed off or captured the others. For some reason, the thought of that having happened made my heart race and drop into the pit of my stomach. I forced myself not to imagine why. The deafening silence carried on as I looked around at the scene before me. I suppose there's no point in being here if everyone is gone. I said to myself, taking a few steps back toward the kitchen where I entered. Suddenly, the sound of gunfire erupts somewhere on one of the upper levels. Commands from Shield agents echo throughout the building. The loud thumps of bodies falling to the ground can be heard, as well as odd, animalistic battle cries. I guess the bastards are still here… and Shield too. Now filled with a sense of purpose, I turned around and began to run towards the stairwell. I had to get to wherever the fight was happening and fast. Or I could just leave now while I have the cha- "Hey, you! Put your hands in the air!" I hear a man's voice (probably a Shield agent) shout at me from behind. I stop in my tracks but I don't yet turn around to see the face of my adversary. I begin to think off all the ways I can get out of this situation. I can't turn around and just shoot him because he'll just shoot me first. Using my powers would be too risky, especially if this person knows who I am. Gotta keep those under wraps for right now. I can't risk Shield finding out about them. If I try to run up the stairs, he'll probably just start firing at me. Other ideas run through my head, each one getting more and more complicated than the last. "I won't say this again. Put your hands in the air or I shoot!" The man's booming voice pierced through my thoughts like a blade. Thankfully, the perfect plan popped into my head immediately after his command. A plan that was so perfect and so simple that I had initially dismissed it as being too simple. But sometimes… simple is best. I did what the man asked and slowly started raising my hands. "Good girl." He said once they were over my head. "Good girl"? What am I? A dog? "Now turn around, slowly." Once again, I did as he said and turned around as slowly as I possibly could. "Good. Now walk over here and keep those hands up!" Continuing the façade of being an oddly compliant enemy, I did what he told me to do, hopefully, for the final time. As I got closer and closer to him, I was beginning to wonder when he'd tell me to- "Stop right there!" He commanded. Ah, there we go. I thought to myself. I was getting ever-closer to the best part of my plan. I wish I could smile smugly at him but that mess it all up. This agent is probably already highly suspicious of me. I have to make him believe that I was one-hundred percent ready to comply. "See, that wasn't so hard." The man said to me, the tone of his voice sounding like he was talking to a three-year-old that just gave up a piece of their candy to someone they didn't want to give it to and had been asked multiple times beforehand to share it. If I could just shoot him in the face now, I would. "Agent 34, get over here." He said into the commlink in his helmet. Seemingly out of thin air, another Shield agent appeared just to the right of me. He was roughly the same height and build as the first agent, though his voice was slightly higher yet it still had an open, warm quality to it. As per usual, there was no way to see his face through the dark shades of his helmet. "Make sure she doesn't try anything." The first agent said to the man who went by Agent 34. "Yes, sir." 34 held up his rifle and aimed it at my head and slowly began to walk around me. The first agent set his own rifle down nearby on a small, circular end table. I assumed he was going to get some handcuffs out. Before he even had a chance to get whatever he needed out though, I had brought Agent 34 to the floor with a low, reverse roundhouse kick. The first agent's head shot up to see what had happened and opened his mouth to speak (or possibly scream). Before he was able to get a word out, I had already taken the pistol out from under me shirt and shot him twice in the chest. I then went over to straddle the man known as Agent 34, aiming to shoot his face. I had unfortunately underestimated his strength and overestimated my speed because the next thing I know, he rolled us both over and then it looked like we were about to try missionary with our clothes on. I made sure we didn't have to stay in that uncomfortable position for too long, though. In the blink of an eye, I brought the pistol to the man's chin and fired before Agent 34 had a chance to do anything to me. He went limp on top of me but I was able to hold him up and push him off to the side. I breathed a sigh of relief as the two men lay dead, one in front of and the other beside me. Standing up, I was about to finally head upstairs where the sounds of fighting still raged on when one of the men started coughing. I turned to look at who it was and saw it was the first man I shot. I walked over to him, slightly surprised he was still alive. I was about to shoot him again to change that until he started muttering in what sounded like German. Even though I learned how to speak German, I wasn't able to figure out what he was saying. Granted, he was speaking quietly, often taking quick, shallow breaths between words. I was only able to make out a few words. "Freedom", "chaos", "humanity", "history", and what sounded like "new world order". No… it can't be. I bent down and grabbed him by his shoulders, pulling him up to me. "Tell me what you're saying." I demanded. The man just continued with his unintelligible muttering. I set him back down on the ground for a moment to slap him. "Why is Hydra here too?". The man's muttering turned into chuckle which turned into a full-blown laugh. He's a lunatic. I said to myself, slapping him twice to shut him up. I pulled him even closer to me, "What is going on?!" I yelled, becoming exasperated with him. As the man's laughter died down, he just stared at me for a few moments before a smile gradually appeared on his face. "What the hell are you smiling about, you son of a bitch?". He didn't answer for several moments. I was tempted to just give up and leave him there to die when he finally spoke. "Cut off one head… and another… will grow in its place." I was feeling a huge mixture of emotions then. Confusion, anger, and some might even say fear. One thing's for certain though… I was tired of this man's bullshit. I threw his body back onto the ground and stood above him, taking out my pistol. Aiming for his head, I was about to shoot when he started to speak again. "Hail… Hydra." were his final words before I blew his brains out. For some reason, I felt like I was unable to move from the spot I was in. My heart was racing faster than it was earlier and my head was pounding. I couldn't stop looking at the body before me, the man's words running through my head over and over. "Freedom", "chaos", "humanity", "history"... "new world order"... "hail... Hydra". I heard the old Hydra adage "cut off one head and another will grow in its place" before. Everything else the man said was far more... disturbing. Suddenly, I began to feel faint. I was worried that I had been shot with some sort of tranquilizing dart and somehow didn't even notice it. That's when I realized that I had been holding my breath since I'd shot the man in the face. I instantly let myself breath again, the faint feeling thankfully going away. My head was still pounding, though. The pain didn't seem like it was going to leave anytime soon. I wonder if Alistar has some of that Advil still? I thought to myself, rubbing my temples in an attempt to ease the pain. I had almost forgotten why I was even here in the first place when it hit me like a pack of bricks. Alistar… James… that's right! I guilted myself into coming back here to help them. I groaned, turning around again and heading back towards the stairwell, again. Sometimes I'm too nice. I said to myself, shaking my head as I sprinted up the floors. I could still hear there was fighting going on upstairs, though it seemed to have died down slightly. I heard fewer gunshots and more… well, what sounded like bodies being thrown against the walls. I think I even heard the sound of glass breaking, which was probably someone being thrown out the window. I wonder if they even need my help. It sounds like they're doing just fine. Yet, I still kept running, much to my own dismay. It's like I have zero control over my body tonight. I said to myself. Maybe this is all just a dream? The next thing I know, I land abruptly on the floor, my chin hitting it especially hard. "Ugh… what the hell." I groaned. I looked back to see what I had tripped on and saw a body… a body that belonged to a Shield agent that looked pretty dead. Even if I had no sound clues, I knew what this meant. "I must be getting close then." I said, pushing myself up to my feet. I took a few moments to regain my composure and then resumed my running, hoping not to trip on any more bodies along the way.
